Larkana college’s 47 teachers transferred in short span of time

LARKANA: Over 47 assistant professors and lecturers of Government Degree College Larkana have been transferred in short span of time due to which shortage of teaching staff has worsened.

This was revealed in a meeting of the Coordination Committee of Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) held here on Tuesday under the chair of its president Prof Ali Raza Gaad. The meeting was participated by large number of professors, associate professors, assistant professors and lecturers including Ghulam Muhammad Hulio, Ubedullah Jakhro, Vijay Kumar, Abdul Haq Khoso, Aijaz Jamali, Liaquat Memon and others.

While talking to the media Gaad said that teachers of Chemistry, Maths, Zoology, Physics and Commerce subjects had been transferred which was unjust.

He said that thousands of students were enrolled in the Degree College from where three chemistry professors had been transferred and now only two professors left there.

He asked how two teachers would impart education to hundreds of students whose most important subject could be well understood. He said Professor Shafqat Larik was a heart patient but he too had not been spared and had been transferred.

SPLA leaders further alleged that an acute shortage of teachers was being faced across the province in the colleges, but the government wanted to run the colleges on adhocism instead of recruiting new faces to fill the existing vacancies on merit.

They further claimed that by transferring teachers from one to another college would ruin the education system which already stood very damaged.

They urged the education minister, chief secretary and other relevant officers to take notice of the teachers shortage, ensure fresh appointment of new hands through Sindh Public Service Commission to fill the vacancies and withdrawal of transfer orders.
