NA (Meeting of the Standing Committee on Law and Justice held)

ISLAMABAD:The 16th meeting of the Standing Committee on Law and Justice was held on Monday under the Chairmanship of Mr. Riaz Fatyana, MNA.

The meeting started with the recitation from the Holy Quran then the Committee decided to proceed with the agenda. The Committee confirmed the minutes of its previous meetings held on 15th and 16th May, and deferred the implementation status of its previous recommendations.

The Committee considered the Bill “The Muslim Family Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (Section 4) (Government Bill)”and “The Muslim Family Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (Section 7) (Government Bill)”at the request of the Ministry, the Committee deferred the Bills till its next meeting.

The Committee considered the Bills, “The Letters of Administration and Succession Certificate Bill, 2019 (Government Bill)”

“The Enforcement of Women’s Property Rights Bill, 2019 (Government Bill); The Whistleblower Protection and Vigilance Commission Bill, 2019 (Government Bill); and recommended that all these Bills may be passed by the Assembly however Ms. Aliya Kamran MNA submitted her note of Dissent in The Whistleblower Protection and Vigilance Commission Bill, 2019.

The Committee considered the Bill, The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (Amendment in Article 1, 51, 59, 106, 154, 175A, 198 and 218) (Moved by Rana Sana Ullah Khan, MNA);and recommended that the Bill may be deferred till its next meeting due to non-availability of the Mover.

The Committee considered the Bill, “The Legal Practitioner and Bar Councils (Amendment) Bill, 2018 (Moved by Ms. Aliya Kamran, MNA)”and deferred the same till its next meeting with recommendation that representatives of Pakistan Bar Council, all Provincial Bar council’s and Islamabad Bar Council be invited in the next meeting.

The Committee considered the agenda “Discussion on establishment of Divisional Benches of Lahore High Court at Faisalabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sahiwal and DG Khan” and recommended that benches of Lahore High Court may be established at the said Divisional level.

Members/MNAs/Movers Mr. Atta Ullah, Mr. Lal Chand, Ms. Maleeka Ali Bokhari, Mr. Muhammad Sana Ullah Khan Masti Khel, Malik Muhammad Ehsan Ullah Tiwana, Mr. Sher Ali Arbab, Ms. Shunila Ruth, Saad Waseem, Ms. Aliya Kamran attended the meeting besides the Minister for Law and Justice senior officers from the Ministry of Law and Justice with their staff, representatives of the Council of Islamic Ideology, attended the meeting.
