One more minor dies as measles spread in Sindh

NARO, Sindh: Another minor girl died of measles on Monday near Naro town, taking the disease death toll to 60 during this warm season across Sindh Province.

Today, Aneesha Mahar lost life due to measles in village Ishaq Mahar near Naro town. Fifteen other children are suffering from this disease in same village. Furthermore, nine people have already died due to this disease in Naro’s areas during the month as the health authorities have badly failed to control the disease due to lack of healthcare facilities. The federal government, provincial government and social organizations need to control the deadly disease.

Measles is a highly contagious infectious disease caused by the measles virus. Symptoms usually develop 10–12 days after exposure to an infected person and last 7–10 days. Initial symptoms typically include fever, often greater than 40 °C (104.0 °F), cough, runny nose, and inflamed eyes.
