Opinion Poll: (47% Pakistanis say they have heard or read SC’s decision to stop PIA privatization: Poll)

ISLAMABAD: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, 47% Pakistanis say they have heard or read about the Supreme Court’s decision to stop the privatization of PIA. 4 in 5 Pakistanis (79%) who have heard/read about it, agree with the decision.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “Recently Supreme Court of Pakistan has stopped the government from privatizing the national airline PIA. Have you heard or read about this?” In response to this question, 47% said yes they have heard/ read about it and 36% said no. 17% did not know or wish to respond.

Respondents who answered in affirmative were further asked, “Some people think that the decision made by Supreme Court to stop the privatization of PIA is correct while others think it is incorrect.

Please tell what do you think about it?” In response to this question, 79% said it is an absolutely correct decision and 18% said it is an absolutely incorrect decision. 3% did not know or wish to respond.

The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.

The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1581 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, April 16- April 23, 2018. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
