Plea for security to Bilawal: SHC summons interior ministry officials for comments

KARACHI:Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday summoned officials of the interior ministry on June 13 pertaining to the provision of security to Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

A SHC bench heard a petition seeking provision of security to PPP chairman. The counsel of Bilawal submitted that his client had a threat to his life so security be provided to him. He said Sindh government had provided security to his client, but other provinces were not providing security. He pleaded the court to order other provinces for the provision of security.

The bench remarked that Sindh had provided the security to PPP chairman, but how it could issue order to other provinces.

The counsel said that his client had threat to life so it was the responsibility of the government to provide him security. On which, the bench replied: ‘’It is the right of every citizen that government provide him security.”

The counsel said that PPP was in government, but same year the elections were held and PML-N came to power. The court adjourned the hearing till 13 June.
