PNF asks Secretary Health to consider nurses demands

KARACHI:President Pakistan Nurses Federation (PNF) Nighat Ijaz Durrani asked the Secretary Health Department Sindh to implement genuine demands of nurses working in public sector hospitals of Sindh province and also condemned behaviors of provincial authorities concerned with nurses.

It has been noticed with great concern that Sindh health department has detained the male and female nurses while they were also startled hunger strike for their rights for genuine demands for not implemented by the provincial government which has been approved two months ago, this was stated in letter sent to Secretary Health Department Sindh.

The Executive Board of Pakistan Nurses Federation took a serious notice in the meeting held on yesterday and strongly condemned the government attitude against nurses and urged to solve the problems of nurses working under the Sindh government regarding their genuine demands.

The nurses of Sindh protesting for health professional and teaching allowance, increase of stipend for nursing students, DDO powers of Nursing School Principals, up-gradation of nurses under four tier formula, implementation of service structure and other monetary benefits.

The PNF requested to Secretary Health to consider nurses demands and solve all the problems facing by the nurses as early as possible and further requested not to take any harsh action to prevent any distance.

Nurses continue boycott of duties

The nurses under the banner of Sindh Nurses Alliance, completely boycotted the emergency services, intensive care units, pediatric intensive care unit, pediatric emergencies, cardiac intensive care unit and other services on Saturday.

The nurses are protesting all over the province for health professional allowance, promotion and up-gradation of nurses under four-tier formula, DDO power for nursing instate principals, hike in nursing student stipend and others since last nine days.

The situation was also similar in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Jamshoro, Shikarpur, Mithi, Jacobabad, Ghotki, Badin, Kashmor, Dadu and other cities.
