Thatta:Growers here Monday protested here against smuggling of vegetables into Pakistan and asked the government to check this menace.
Protestors led by Abdul Jabbar Memon gathered at the Thatta Press Clubs and raised slogans. They said vegetables are being smuggled from India and due to this the local growers are not getting fair rates for their crops. They said last year the growers of Thatta sold tomatoes as low as Rs1 per kilogram.
They demanded from the government to ensure halt to smuggling of vegetables and support local agro-based economy.
