Badin: Removal of illegal constructions on the both banks of the Kazia Canal was protested by a group of citizens.
The protestors led by Advocate Essa Mallah, councillors Khalifa Tariq Memon, Gulzar Memon and others staged a protest demonstration at the Kazia Canal bridge and chanted slogans against municipal authorities.
The protestors pelted heavy machinery and encroachment removal staff with stones, forcing them to retreat.
They burnt tyres along the main road leading towards Hyderabad and Karachi, suspending traffic on this busy road for hours.
However, the officials said they have launched the drive against illegal constructions along the Kazia Canal on the directives of court.
Earlier, Mukhtiarkar (Revenue) Badin and DSP Badin negotiated with protestors and it was decided to hold further talks tomorrow.
