SDI stages demo for regularization, restoration of doctors

KARACHI: Sindh Doctors Ittehad (SDI) on Tuesday staged protested demonstration for regularization of contract doctors and restoration of doctors sacked by National Institute of Cardiovascular (NICVD) administration.

The protesters were led by SDI President Dr Mohammad Ali Thalu, Dr Kamal Ansari, Dr Shabbir Memon, Dr Abdul Waheed, Dr Ghulam Ali, Dr Sadia , Dr Zain, Dr Ayaz Soomro , Dr Nisar Shah and others.

The protesters were carrying placards and banners inscribed with different slogans like time-scale promotions for doctors, stop injustice with health practitioners, increase allowances of doctors, regularize contract doctors and reinstate sacked doctors on their posts.

Dr Mohammad Ali Thalu, while talking to PPI, said doctors and paramedical staff working in Peoples Primary Health Initiative (PPHI), a non-governmental organization, were deprived of all their basic rights during service.

He urged the Sindh government to regularize contract doctors and paramedical staff on their posts and table the bill at the Sindh Assembly for regularization of all contract health practitioners working in various health facilities of Sindh province.

Dr Sadia said nepotism and favouritism were on the rise at NICVD since last few years. She said dozens of doctors had been terminated from their services by NICVD administration in last few months.

She demanded of the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Co-chairman PPP Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman PPP, Bilawal Bhutto and authorities concerned to take notice of mismanagement in NICVD and reinstate sacked doctors on their jobs.

The doctors give five-day ultimatum to Sindh government to implement on time scale promotion, increase allowances & salaries, regularize contract doctors and restore sacked doctors otherwise Sindh-wide protest demonstration will be held till acceptance of genuine demands.
