SHC issues notices on petition related to recruitment in police

KARACHI:Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday issued notices to Government of Sindh, Home Department of Sindh and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh on a petition pertaining to recruitment of staff in information technology department of Sindh Police.

A two-member bench heard the petition filed by one Muhammad Awais and 9 other candidates.

During the outset of hearing, Usman Farooq, counsel of the petitioners, informed the court that an advertisement was published on 24th December 2019 pertaining to the recruitment on nine vacant positions of BPS-9 in police Call Centre.

He said candidates, who have also filed petition, had given test for recruitment in IT department of Sindh Police for these positions.

Farooq submitted that intermediate or relevant degree was required in advertisement for these positions. He said these candidates qualified the written test but before interviews, their names were removed from the list and by declaring them slow in typing speed.

The counsel submitted to the bench that there was no requirement of typing speed in the advertisement. He urged court that candidates might be declared succeed and given jobs.
