SHC seeks comments in education official’s missing case

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday sought replies from Rangers director general, police inspector general, home secretary and other officials on a petition seeking whereabouts of official of Sindh education department.

A division bench headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto was hearing a petition filed for the recovery of Shoaib Ahmed Khan, a 17-grade officer at education department who has been missing since January 17.

The wife of the missing man petitioned the high court and submitted her husband went missing on January 17 when he was on his way home from office.

The court was informed that the family members were going through severe mental agony in Shoaib’s absence, adding that they were trying their best to trace out the missing person since the day of his arrest but to no avail.

Citing DG Rangers, IGP Sindh and home secretary as the respondents, the petitioner prayed the court to direct the respondents to recover the missing man at the earliest.

After the initial hearing, the court issued notices to federal and provincial law officers and the respondents, directing them to submit their respective replies by March 15.
