SHC seeks comments on petition against Varsities Act 2018

Karachi:Sindh High Court (SHC) here Thursday heard the constitutional petition of Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Altaf Shakoor against the University Act 2018 and sought comments from the provincial government.

As per details, a double-bench of SHC comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Agha Faisal heard the constitutional petition. During the hearing the government lawyer maintained that he had not received the copy of the constitutional petition of Pasban, so time may be granted to him. On this the PDP lawyer Irfan Aziz Advocate submitted before the court the receiving copy of the Pasban petition duly deposited with the office of the government lawyer with their receipt seal.

The government lawyer further maintained that the petitioner should have made the Sindh University Board as respondent.

However, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar remarked the law was not enacted by the Sindh University Board. The honorable court then directed the government lawyer to submit their reply by October 15 and adjourned the hearing to October 15, 2019.
