KARACHI:Fearing of possible arrest, two sons of Pakistan Peoples’ Party’s (PPP) Member of National Assembly (MNA) Sayed Khursheed Shah and his alleged ‘front man’ approached Sindh High Court (SHC) for getting pre-arrest bail in connection with National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) investigation against Shah in a case regarding his alleged assets beyond means.
A pre-arrest bail plea was moved by Zareeq Shah, Farakh Shah and Sayed Qasim Ali Shah, who is said to be the front-man of Shah. The petitioners stated they were worried of possible arrest. ‘’We are ready to be part of NAB investigation but pre-arrest bail be granted to us,’’ they stated.
Later, the court granted them pre-arrest bail and stopped NAB from arresting them until 16th October. The court ordered the petitioners to submit a surety for the bails. The court directed them to cooperate with bureau till October 16 and asked them to be a part of investigation.
Earlier, the PPP leader was arrested in a joint operation by NAB’s Rawalpindi and Sukkur chapters on 18 September. Shah was taken by nearly 20 personnel of NAB and police during a raid at his Islamabad residence.
“Shah has opened as many as 105 banks accounts under his and family members’ names in Karachi, Sukkur and other cities,” NAB sources claimed.
The properties were made in Sukkur, Rohri and Karachi, the bureau said, adding Glamour Bungalow, Junejo Flour Mills, Mukesh Flour Mills including 83 other properties were made under Shah’s front man, Pehlaj Rai.
Furthermore, 11 properties were registered under his another front man Lado Mall and 10 properties were made under name of Hussain Soomro, another front man of the PPP leader.
According to the documents available with the NAB, a person namely Umar Jan, also played a vital role for Khursheed Shah. The house and a bombproof car, being used by the PPP leader, are also registered under his name.
