SHCC constitutes sub-groups to tackle infectious diseases

KARACHI:Sindh Health Care Commission has formed four sub groups of Taskforce for Infection Prevention and Control to tackle infectious diseases smoothly in the future.

Chief Executive Officer Sindh Healthcare Commission Dr Minhaj Qidwai chaired second meeting of Taskforce for Infection Prevention and Control. Prof Dr Rafiq Khanani of Liaquat College of Medicine, Jibran Khalid Kidwai, CTO MESSCO, Dr Syed Faisal Mehmood Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases at AKU, Dr Rehana Siddiqui of AKU, Ms Riffat HOD IPCandQA at Children Hospital, Ms Roshan HOD IC at NICVD and Dr Faiza Bhutto Deputy Director SHCC attended the meeting.

In the meeting, it was discussed that taskforce for infection prevention and control will augment and improve document of injection safety Act- 2011. Training of infection prevention and control will be held in last week of August for training of HCEs in collaboration with MMIDSP.

Under task force committee four subgroups are created namely research, education, systems and training.

The research group will undertake research study related to current infection prevention and prepare intervention study. Education group will develop policy guidelines and their dissemination, along with Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilization.

The systems group will study the relevant ACTs passed by Sindh Assembly and waste management systems to recommend guidelines for systems improvement and training group will develop Train the Trainer program for IPC.
