KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Health and Population Welfare Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho said federal government has been politicizing the issue of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) and National Institute of Child Health.
She stated this on Thursday while speaking to health reporters at Sindh Secretariat. Secretary Health Sindh Zahid Ali Abbasi was also present.
She said no any progress has been seen from federal government to take administrative control of three major hospital including JPMC, NICVD and NICH thus status of these hospitals still hanged in balance. She said politics on health facilities by the federal government was not understandable.
Azra Pechuho said Sindh government is committed to resolve the issues of doctors, paramedical staff and others. She said high power committee could not be constituted for JPMC doctors until announcement of clear policy from federal government in this regard.
Replying a question about corona-virus, Health Minister said overall situation in Pakistan is under control and no any corona-virus positive case has been detected from the country so far. She said high-alert had already declared in Sindh province to deal any medical emergency and she was personally monitoring the situation in the province.
She said dissolution of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) was unnecessary step of federal government and welcomed Islamabad High Court’s decision for declaring dissolution of the PMDC by a presidential ordinance as ‘null and void’.
She further said drafting Sindh Medical and Dental Council has already completed and will be tabled in Sindh Assembly. He said establishment of Sindh Medical and Dental Council is thee need of the hour to bring improvement in health delivery standards.
Health Minister said anti-rabies vaccine (ARV) is available in teaching and district headquarters hospitals. She said DG Health Sindh has been assigned to ensure availability of vaccine in health facilities.
