Sindh bent to violate police rules, wants yes-man: Haleem

Karachi:Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Vice President and parliamentary party leader in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh has said that the period of posting of an IGP is three years, adding the Sindh government is bent to violate the Police Rules 2019.

Addressing a press conference outside the Sindh Assembly here Wednesday, he said the provincial ministers claim that from the three names given by their government, one would be posted as IGP Sindh. He asked why, adding from 2008 to date you have transferred 12 IGPs. He said the period of posting of an IGP is three years, but here an IGP is changed just in months.

He said under the section 11 of Police Rules 2019, the federal government will send three names for the posting of IGP. He advised Saeed Ghani and Murtaza Wahab to read the Police Order 2019, which was made by their government.

He said had the government of Sindh not politicized the matter of IGP, today things would not have reached to this extent. He said IGPs were transferred in three other provinces, but nobody held a press conference. He said instead of politicizing the matter, had Sindh government opted for official correspondence this issue would have been resolved easily. He said sadly instead of opting this process the ministers of provincial government of Sindh came before media and maligned the IGP Sindh.

He said the federal government is a cabinet which is working as per law. The prime minister presented the matter of IGP transfer before the cabinet, which refused to transfer the IGP. He said now the legal and proper way would be adopted in this regard. He said it is the right of Sindh government to get the IGP transferred but their ways and means are wrong. He said a chief of force could not be removed by maligning him. He said how an IGP can be changed who does face any criminal charges.

He regretted that the Sindh rulers transfer officers who refused to be a yes-man. He said SSP Dr Rizwan presented a report against a minister and he was removed.

He said we are the players and soldiers of the Captain and we will fight for the rights of people of Sindh. He said some minnows say they would not talk to the Sindh governor.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan believes in consultation. He asked what harm in consultation between Sindh government and chief minister is. He said this is a better and proper way, but the Sindh government does not want to resolve issues. He requested the federal cabinet to summon Sindh chief minister. He said it was the decision of the federal cabinet to go for consultation with the governor.

He reminded that the name of IGP Kaleem Imam was also suggested by the Sindh government. He said he was acceptable till the SSPs presented a report against ministers. He said when the links of ministers with drug sellers and mafias were exposed the IGP suddenly became a bad person.

He said we will continue to support those persons, who expose the mafias. He said he was attacked to silence his voice. He said the crime of SSP Dr Rizwan is that he is investigation officer in Rao Anwar case. He said mockingly that Sindh government should have posted Rao Anwar as IGP. He demanded to make a JIT on the report of SSP Dr Rizwan. He said JIT under a judge be made on cases of Umerkot, Jacobabad and Chanesar Goth Karachi.

He said instead of hurling threats, talks should be held on the issue. He said if the PPP opts for protest on the issue of IGP, the people of Sindh would also give a reaction against being deprived of basic facilities of life. He said people of Sindh suffering AIDS and dog-bites would not support these rulers. He said all department of Sindh have failed, the worst of them is provincial health department.

He said the federal government is serving the masses. He said schemes of billions of rupees are being given under Ahsas program. He said houses are being given under Naya Pakistan Scheme. He said when the poor masses would get facilities the real change would automatically come.
