Sindh governor to open modern school in Thar on March 4

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair will inaugurate the new state of the art purpose-built building of 160th school of Green Crescent Trust (GCT) in Thar on 04 March 2018.

The launch of new school in Mithi, Thar would be a major milestone in the mission of the trust to provide quality school education to children of under-privileged, rural and remote areas of Sindh. The school in its new ground-plus-two storied building will provide quality and modern education to over 1500 children of Thar region up to Class 10th on pure charitable basis in accordance with the vision of the GCT.

“This will be our 11th school in Thar area alone showing well our resolve to serve the children of most disadvantaged area of Sindh,” the statement quoted Chief Executive Officer of GCT Zahid Saeed as saying. “Our donors have been outstandingly supporting us after seeing our good results as it is on basis of their support, we have been serving very well in remote areas like Thar for last 23 years,” said Saeed.

The new school building will have 27 class rooms including science and computer labs. The purpose-built facility has been completed with an approximate cost of Rs 45 million with the support of two donors. Construction of the building has been completed in the record time of just 15 months. Recently students of GCT’s schools in Thar area performed very well in the first ever Thar Science Festival held in collaboration with Sindh government.
