Sindh rulers even failed to control stray dogs: Adil

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh senior leader and leader of parliamentary party in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh has said that the rulers of Sindh had even failed to control stray dogs, not to speak of the major problems like corruption and joblessness.

Haleem Adil Sheikh, along with MNA Jay Parkash, Ali Junejo and other leaders, visited the National Institute of Child Diseases (NICD) here Saturday and inquired about the health of innocent child of Larkana Hassnain, admitted there after being brutally bitten by a stray dog in Larkana.

Talking to media, Adil said that condition of the injured child Hassnain was critical. He said a full-fledged teaching medical university hospital was present in Larkana but it sadly lacked the capacity to treat such cases, which was a shame for their surgeons and professors. He said had proper healthcare facilities available in Larkana, this child would not had been shifted to Karachi. He said the federal government would bear all expenses if this child was sent abroad for treatment.

Adil said the people of Sindh pray for ending of the stray dogs. He said children had been dying in hospitals of Sindh for years due to poor healthcare facilities. He said even the provincial government of Sindh is not able to maintain stock of dog-bite vaccine. He said this government is responsible for shortage of ARV vaccine. He said the provincial rulers are not capable of resolving even simpler issues like controlling stray dogs.

Haleem Adil said thousands of people have already been bitten by dogs in Sindh and dozens have died due to delay in administration of vaccine. He said this year so far at least 23 people have died of rabies in Sindh and more than 1 50000 others sustained injuries. He said it seems that whole Sindh is handed over to dogs. He said a mother in Thar had to beg to get an ambulance to shift the dead body of her child.

Adil said that the federal government had already issued 275000 health cards in Tharparkar, and every family was being given healthcare assistance of Rs700,000. He said AIDS spread in Sindh including Larkana due to negligence of Sindh government. He said a resolution was passed in Sindh assembly on this subject but it is yet to be implemented. He said Larkana is the hardest hit area by dog-bite and AIDS and now stray dogs are biting people in Nawabshah also. He said in Karachi there are countless stray dogs, but the rulers are embezzling funds instead of controlling stray dogs.
