Siraj condemns torture on Peshawar University students

LAHORE: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has condemned the police lathi charge and the arrests of Peshawar University students protesting against increase in varsity fee.

Terming the students as the future of the nation and a nursery of democracy, the JI chief in a statement here, called for immediate release of the arrested students.

He said that peaceful protest of the students was no crime and the varsity administration should have resolved the issue through dialogue instead of involving the police.

He expressed sympathies with the students injured due to police lathi charge and directed the Islami Jamiat e Talaba to offer maximum help to the injured and guide the detained students till their release.
