KARACHI:A team of eye specialists on Saturday successfully performed four corneal graft surgeries at Spencer Eye Hospital Karachi.
Ophthalmologists Dr Niaz Brohi, Dr Birbal Genani, Dr Nadim Sheikh, Dr Shezad and their staff performed four corneal transplants, which were donated by Lions Club of Pakistan a day ago.
The corneal grafting of Ubaid Ullah Jaan, Pooja, Ramzan and a child were successfully performed by experts. The surgeries of selected patients were performed free of cost. Spencer Eye Hospital management also provided medicines and bore other expenses of patients.
The corneal transplantation, also known as corneal grafting, is a surgical procedure where a damaged or diseased cornea is replaced by donated corneal tissue. The Spencer Eye Hospital administration has re-launched corneal transplant for poor patients in collaboration with Lions Club of Pakistan.
