Sports: Cricket: Pakistan Friends beat Overseas Friends by five wickets

Karachi: Pakistan Friends cricket team overpowered Overseas Friends cricket team recording a five-wicket victory in an exhibition match here at Rashid Latif Academy Ground.

Overseas Friends batted first in the match and put on board 118 runs in 20 overs. Ghazi (21 runs) and Naveed (17 runs) batted well for the side. Shan secured two wickets.

In reply, Pakistan Friends achieved the target in 14.1 overs with five wickets in hand. Naseem batted well for the side scoring 47 runs.

Under 13 all-rounder Shayan Choudhary was given a special cash award of Rs 5,000. Earlier, SHO Gulberg inaugurated the exhibition match.

“The cricket match between Pakistanis and Overseas players is an effective way to bring players together, which also leads to the unity and solidarity of the nation. This kind of event is a very good move,” former Test cricketer Shoaib Mohammad said during the exhibition match.

At the end of the ceremony, chief guest Shoaib Mohammad gave away a cash prize of Rs.25,000 and Rs,10,000 to the respective winning and losing teams. Mohammad Owais received Rs.10,000 as Man of the Match award as well.

At the end of the ceremony, special prayers were also made for Army, Rangers and police martyrs.
