Sports: Tennis: Pak colts cruise into Junior Davis Cup quarters

Karachi: Pakistan junior Davis Cup team recorded its third consecutive 3-0 victory in the ongoing Junior Davis Cup defeating Kuwait 3-0 in Colombo, Sri Lanka today (Wednesday) and qualified for the quarterfinals of the event.

Earlier, Pakistani colts defeated Malaysia and Bhutan with the same 3-0 margin.

On Wednesday, Huzaifa Abdul Rehman put Pakistan 1-0 up beating Kuwait’s Ali Shatti 6-0, 6-0 in the first match of the three-match tie.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Shoaib recovered from a set down to beat Bader Antar recording 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory to give Pakistan inaccessible 2-0 lead.

In the third dead rubber encounter, Huzaifa Abdul Rehman and Ahmed Kamil overpowered Ali Shatti and Mohammad Alqattan by 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 score after a close encounter.

Pakistan will now play against Bangladesh in the quarterfinals to battle for a semifinal spot.
