Sports: Wrestling: Inayat downs USA’s Manville to claim bronze in Youth Olympics

Karachi: Mohammad Inayat Ullah overpowered USA wrestler Carson Manville convincingly in the third place play-off and claimed bronze medal for Pakistan for the first in the history of Pakistan wrestling in Youth Olympic Games 2018 underway at Buenos Aires, Argentina.

According to information made available here, 2017 Asian Cadet silver medalist Inayat Ullah defeated the USA wrestler 6-2 in Under-65 Kg category event.

Inayat scored first to go up 2-0, but Manville answered to tie up the bout at the break, 2-2. In the second period, Inayat scored four unanswered points to secure the decision and win the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, Turan Bayramov of Azerbaijan clinched gold medal in the event beating Mohammad Baghi Karimiseifabad of Iran in the final, who ended up with silver medal.

Chairman Syed Aqil Shah Pakistan Wrestling Federation (PWF) has congratulated the national hero for achieving “what no one has ever achieved before for Pakistan in the game”.

Inayat had shown his talent last year when he claimed 70Kg title at the Beach World Wrestling Championships by defeating an Irani opponent in the final in Dalyan, Turkey last year.
