SSP Bangash claims 90% peace in Larkana district

LARKANA: Senior Superintendent of Police, Larkana, Masood Ahmed Bangash, claimed Sunday that during his one year tenure as SSP Larkana, the police had arrested 3434 proclaimed offenders, absconders, drug peddler and anti-social elements.

Talking to newsmen here, Bangsh said among the detainees, 804 were proclaimed offenders. He said 141 encounters took place with the criminals during one year in which 41 criminals were arrested in injured condition while 60 gangs were busted. He said a large number of arms were also recovered from them which included 12 Kalashnikovs, 147 pistols, 76 short guns, 60 revolvers, rocket launchers, bombs, hand grenades, shells, and huge quantity of bullets.

Bangash further claimed that approximately 200 stolen or snatched bikes and five cars were also recovered during his tenure. He said during drive against drug peddlers, eight kg heroin, 465 kg hashish, 5746 kg cannabis, 1438 bottles wine, 65 kg opium, 1300 grams ice, 500 grams crystal and a large quantity of ghutka were also confiscated.

He said the Inquiry and Investigation Cell was also established to resolve issues confronted by the poor residents along with constitution of Minority Cell, District Complaint Cell and WRC. He said out of 7000 applications, issues of about 5500 were resolved during the same period and probe of other applications was underway. He further claimed that 90% peace is prevailing in the entire district at the moment.
