GUJRAT: :Three female university students were suffered burns injuries in an acid attack over rejecting marriage proposal in Dang district of Gujrat on Thursday.
According to the police, the three girls, who are said to be students of the University of Gujrat, were waiting at a bus stop to go to university when the man, Qudoos and his accomplices, Danish and Owais, approached them and threw acid. As a result, one of the girl suffered 28 per cent physical burn injuries, while other two girls sustained minor injuries.
The injured were shifted to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
According to the police, one of the girls had refused a marriage proposal which was the reason behind the attack.
Two suspects managed to escape, police said, while the third suspect has been arrested.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Inspector General of Police Arif Nawaz took notice of the incident, and ordered Gujrat district police officer to submit a detailed report of the incident. They also directed the police to arrest the suspects within 24 hours.
