Two more polio cases surfaces in Sindh

KARACHI:EOC Sindh has confirmed two new polio cases in Sindh, one each from Mirpurkhas and Qambar, taking the total cases toll to 22 in the province in 2019. It may be noted that these are cases from December 2019 and not from 2020. This takes the total of cases in Pakistan to 128.

In Mirpurkhas, the polio virus was found in a 48-month-old girl from Sindhri, UC Ghroro Sharif. Her right upper and lower limbs have been affected. According to parents, she had received seven doses of OPV during campaigns, but no routine immunization was done. Investigation into actual doses is ongoing.

In UC Miprur of Qambar, a 24-month girl from Wareh contracted the polio virus and her right lower limb was affected. According to parents, she had received the polio vaccine on seven occasions, but investigation into this was ongoing.

EOC Sindh requested all parents to give their children OPV during every campaign and also get their routine immunization done to save them from childhood diseases.
