University of Jhang will start from September

LAHORE: Classes in University of Jhang (UoJ) will start from September this year. A temporary campus is being set up in Government Ghazali Degree College, Jhang.

It was stated in a review meeting held on May 31with Chief

Minister Punjab Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif in the chair that initially computer science, math, Islamic studies, Pakistan studies, English, sociology and physics will be taught and faculty along with academic school temporary registrar is being hired. Meeting was told that legal requirements of PC-1 and PC-2 have been fulfilled and 2286 kanal land has been transferred to the university which has occupied it. Advertisement has been given for the appointment of VC.

Commissioner Faisalabad Momin Agha said that draft of financial rules and other laws has been sent to governor for approval and budget for the current financial year has also been approved. Rules for admissions for first sessions have been approved as well and seven different committees have been constituted to perform their respective duties as per law.

Fee structure for 1st session is also approved and procurement of furniture and other equipment has started. Similarly, funds transfer and tendering process is completed and work order has been issued to the contractor. Preparations for 1st session are near to completion and 1st process of admission has been completed and applications are being received for teachers’ appointment.

Chief Minister said that construction of this university will be completed in 1st 1.5 to 2 years after the elections if an opportunity is provided by Almighty Allah. Commissioner Faisalabad Momin Agha, Secretary Higher Education Nabeel Awan, Sheikh Waqas Akram and others attended the meeting while DC Jhang Mudassir Riaz Malik participated through video link.
