COVID-19 claims one more life, infects 188: Sindh Chief Minister

Karachi, September 06, 2020 (PPI-OT): As many as 188 new cases of Coronavirus emerged when 8999 samples were tested lifting the tally to 130,671 while one more patient lost his life overnight lifting the death toll to 2432. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Sunday.

Shah said that 8999 tests were conducted which detected 188 new cases which constituted two percent current detection rate. So far 1,055,050 samples have been tested which diagnosed 130,671 cases that came to 12 percent overall detection rate. The CM said that one more patient lost his life lifting the death toll to 2423 that constituted 1.9 percent death rate. He added that currently 2035 patients were under treatment, of them 1700 in home isolation, seven at Isolation Centers and 328 in different hospitals.

According to CM the condition of 154 patients is stated to be critical, of them 15 have been shifted to ventilators. Overnight 49 patients recovered. The number of patients recovered so far has reached 126,213 that constituted 97 percent recovery rate.

Shah sharing district-wise data said, out of 188 new cases, 115 belonged to Karachi. They include 60 South, 24 East, 13 Korangi, eight Central, six west, and four Malir. He added that Thatta has 12 cases, Badin nine, Khairpur eight, Hyderabad and Tando Mohammad Khan four each, Kashmore, Tando Allahyar three each, Sukkur, Kambar, Larkana , Sanghar and Ghotki two each, Ghotki, Jacobabad, Jamshoro, Matiari, Shaheed Benazirabad and Shikarpur one each. The CM urged people of Sindh to observe SOPs, use masks while going out and wash hands or use sanitizer and avoid handshaking.

Pakistan Navy celebrates 55th Anniversary of Defence Day of Pakistan

Islamabad, September 06, 2020 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Navy celebrated 55th anniversary of Defence Day of Pakistan with reverence and effervescent spirit. The day was observed to commemorate supreme sacrifices of our Armed Forces, Shuhada, Ghazis and national heroes who stood against the enemy with unparalleled display of unity and tenacity during 1965 Indo-Pak War.

In his message on the occasion, Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi paid homage to the Shuhada and Ghazis who remained undeterred by the size of the enemy and foiled its nefarious designs with grit, courage and honour. On this day, nation acknowledges sacrifices of its gallant and resilient soldiers, sailors and airmen who defended the ideological and geographical frontiers of their motherland.

The Naval Chief reiterated that Pakistan Navy is fully capable and prepared to give a befitting response to any misadventure by the enemy across the entire spectrum of maritime threat. The Admiral urged that this day being a symbol of courage, resolve, sacrifice and national integrity demands a pledge to work selflessly and to adhere resolutely to the Quaid’s great principles by anchoring strong faith in Allah SWT.

The day dawned with special prayers offered in all naval mosques for preservation of integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan. Quran Khawani were held for interminable peace of Shuhada of the 1965 war. Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi laid floral wreath at Shuhada’s Monument at Naval Headquarters Islamabad, interacted with the families of Shuhada and offered Fateha. Wreath laying ceremonies and Fateha Khawani were also held at Shuhada’s memorials at Field Command Headquarters.

Flag hoisting ceremonies were held at all naval units and establishments wherein Commanding Officers of all units and establishments addressed special gatherings of officers and men and highlighted significance of the day. All ships and establishments were decorated and illuminated in accordance with naval traditions. Other activities of the day included various colourful sports activities and Defence Day Fishing Boats Rallies/ Races at Gwadar and Creeks area.

On the instructions of IG Punjab, crackdown against anti-social elements was intensified across the province

Lahore, September 06, 2020 (PPI-OT): On the direction of Inspector General of Police Punjab Shoaib Dastgir, a series of operations against anti-social elements is going on in the province and crackdown on illegal arms, drug dealers and kite sellers has been intensified. In this connection, Okara police took emergency measures to arrest anti-social elements during the last one month and arrested several anti-social elements. In this regard, District Police Officer Omar Saeed Malik said that 14 members of 5 gangs were arrested and 9 pistols, 1 rifle, 1 gun and 56 bullets and cartridges were recovered from their possession during the operation against persons involved in various crimes last month.

While stolen cash, motorcycle, cattle, mobile phone, LCD etc. worth Rs. 1078700 were also recovered from them. Similarly, 112 cases of arms were registered in which 2 Kalashnikovs, 6 rifles, 17 guns, 91 pistols / revolvers, 1 carbine and 529 bullets were recovered. Likewise, 134 cases under crimes of drugs were registered and 96.476 kg chars, 1994 litre wine, 107 liter Lehn and 10 working alcohol manufacturing kilns have been recovered from the accused.

While cracking down on gamblers, 12 cases have been registered and huge amount of money has been recovered. During the last month, 195 fugitives were arrested out of which 19 fugitives were in A category, 176 fugitives were in B category and 22 were fugitives from the court. Under implementation of national action plan 26 cases under violation of sound system, 04 cases against sensitive installations, 7 cases have been registered under the temporary tenancy Ordinance, 3 under the Hate Material Act and 1 under the 16-MPO Act.

DPO Okara Omar Saeed Malik was of the opinion that as per special instructions issued by IG Punjab Shoaib Dastagir, environment of trust mutual coordination between police and public should be improved by tightening the noose around anti-social elements ensuring that peaceful citizens do not face any trouble during police operations while also ensuring that The people should have a sense of security and consider the police as their helpers so that an atmosphere of trust is maintained between the police and the public. He further said that crackdown against proclaimed offenders, robbers, drug dealers, habitual criminals and criminal elements would continue on a daily basis to ensure safety of life and property of the citizens which I am personally monitoring.

CDA approves 96 million rupees for provision of Sui Gas to Park Enclave-I

Islamabad, September 06, 2020 (PPI-OT): CDA Administration is committed to transform Park Enclave into model, modern, dynamic and futuristic housing project in the capital city. For this purpose the incumbent CDA Administration brought this long neglected project out of back burner, concentrated on its development, allocated funds, monitored development and ensured its availability for its allottees within one year.

Development work in Phase I of Park Enclave is almost complete while development work in Phase II is about to start. Going further ahead, CDA has invited applications for allotment of plots in just launched phase III of Park Enclave. CDA will receive applications from public till 17th of September while balloting will be held on 24th of September.

As another demonstration of its commitment for development of Park Enclave , Capital Development Authority has approved Rs.96 millions for installation and provision of gas network in Park Enclave-I. The payment is likely to be made to SNGPL in couple of days and after that SNGPL will start work on the provision of Sui-gas in the Park Enclave -I.

Under this project, SNGPL will establish external gas conduction network as well as door to door internal gas conduction network. For this purpose, SNGPL will lay 800 meters long gas pipeline of ten inches diameter and 700 meters long gas pipeline of eight inches diameter for external conduction network. 18900 meters long gas pipe of diameter six inches, 2530 long gas pipe of diameter four inches, 9270 meter long gas pipe of diameter two inches and 5600 meter long gas pipe of diameter 1-1/4 inches will be laid for door to door and internal conduction of gas within the project.

It is pertinent to mention here that initially on SNGPL issued demand notice amounting to Rs.243.397 millions for provision of sui gas in Park Enclave-I, however, authority objected the higher cost of demand notice and requested M/s SNGPL to curtail the main line length and share cost with PHA for main line and to issue reduced / revised cost notice to CDA.

In this context, series of meetings were held and eventually in response to the efforts of the CDA management M/s SNGPL issued a reduced / revised cost demand notice for the external and internal gas network for Park Enclave-I. The demand notice was processed and now payment is likely to be made in couple of days. After that work on establishment of Sui gas infrastructure will commence in Park Enclave-I. Provision of gas network will add to the efforts of the CDA management to provide all basic amenities in Park Enclave-I.

Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has presided over a high-level meeting about local government at Chief Minister’ Office

Lahore, September 06, 2020 (PPI-OT): Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has presided over a high-level meeting about local government at Chief Minister’ Office today. While expressing indignation over the unsatisfactory sanitation situation in some areas of the province and the slothfulness of local bodies staff, he said that who do not perform has no right to remain on the seat. He warned the local government staff and officers should not display laxity in solving peoples’ problems. He said that local government funds have been restored throughout the province which will help to start a new era of development at the grassroots level. He said that provincial government is preparing for the local bodies elections as the transfer of powers at grassroots will ensure the solution of people problems at their doorsteps.

Chief Minister directed to accelerate the process of promotion of local bodies sub-engineers as well as expedite the process of recruitment on the vacant posts of buildings inspectors at the earliest. He said that reaching Baldia Online App users to more than two lacs is a good omen. He said that six services including birth, marriage etc are being provided through this app. He said that people can lodge complaints against local bodies institutions through this app by sitting at their home.

He said that the facility of filling the forms should be provided to illiterate people in local bodies offices. Secretary Local Government briefed the attendants of the meeting about the preparations of elections and other affairs. Provincial Minister for Law Raja Basharat, Chairman P and D, Secretaries of Finance, Law, Local Government departments, Principal Secretary to CM and others were present on this occasion.

Lahore, September 06, 2020 (PPI-OT): Head of Pakistan Ulema Council Maulana Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi called on Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar at CM’s Office. Maulana Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi congratulated Usman Buzdar on the completion of two years of PTI government. The Chief Minister told Maulana Tahir Ashrafi about the major projects of Punjab government. Talking on the occasion, Usman Buzdar said that the Punjab government appreciates the role of religious scholars for the promotion of religious harmony in the province as they have extended full cooperation during Muharram-ul-Haram to deal with religious bigotry.

He also lauded the role of religious scholars in the war against extremism. He said that no one will be allowed to spread sectarian and hateful content on social media. Usman Buzdar said that he considers the meeting and consultation with religious scholars as an honour. The Auqaf Department in Punjab is being made more vibrant. The government will ensure the provision of Sehat Insaf Card to the students and teachers of the madrassas, he added.
