Senate offers fateha for security personnel martyred in Ormara, Waziristan attacks

Islamabad, October 16, 2020 (PPI-OT):At the outset, the house offered fateha for the security personnel martyred in recent terror acts in Ormara and Waziristan as well as the religious scholar Maulana Adil who was shot dead in Karachi. Taking the floor, Opposition Leader Raja Zafar-ul-Haq voiced concerns over ceasefire violations by Indian forces on the line of control and recent terror acts in the country.

Adviser on Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan said our forces are giving befitting response to any Indian aggression on the line of control. He, however, said that India is playing a dangerous game in the region which poses threat not only to regional peace and security but also the world. He said we are proud of our security forces that are rendering their lives for the security of the country. The house also offered fateha for the first Prime Minister of Pakistan Liaquat Ali Khan who was martyred on this day in 1951.

305,835 patients recovered from coronavirus in Pakistan

Islamabad, October 16, 2020 (PPI-OT):659 more people tested Covid positive after the tests of 33,901 over the last twenty-four hours. According to the latest statistics, the virus claimed lives of seven more people during the last twenty-four hours. The figure of patients recovered from the virus has reached 305,835. There are now 9,421 active cases in the country.

Pakistan urges world to demand India to halt HR violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir

Islamabad, October 16, 2020 (PPI-OT):Pakistan has urged the international community to demand India to halt its egregious violations of human rights in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ and K). This was stated by Deputy Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations Aamir Khan while taking part in dialogue with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet at the 3rd Committee of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The Pakistani Deputy Permanent Representative also called upon India to implement the recommendations of the two reports of the UN Human Rights Commissioner. He said Pakistan strongly supports the establishment of commission of inquiry and Fact Finding Missions for territories under foreign occupation to investigate and preserve evidence for ensuring accountability of the perpetrators of gross human right violations.

14 security personnel martyred in Ormara attack

Islamabad, October 16, 2020 (PPI-OT):14 security personnel embraced martyrdom while confronting a large number of terrorists on Coastal Highway near Ormara. According to ISPR, the encounter took place when a convoy of OGDCL being escorted from Gwadar to Karachi was attacked by the terrorists.

The Security Forces responded effectively to the terrorists’ attack and ensured security of the OGDCL staff and managed their safe exit from the area. During the clash, substantial losses were also incurred to the terrorists. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister Imran Khan while strongly condemning the terrorist attack on the convoy of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited at Makran Coastal Highway has sought report of the incident.

He also commiserated with families of the security personnel martyred in the attack and lauded the services of the martyrs. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz in a tweet also strongly condemned the attack and said the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the security and defence of the nation are our pride.

Death anniversary of Liaquat Ali Khan being observed today

Islamabad, October 16, 2020 (PPI-OT):The 69th death anniversary of Pakistan’s first Prime Minister Shaheed-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan is being observed on Friday. Born in Karnal‚ East Punjab, Liaquat Ali Khan got education from Aligarh Muslim University, India and Oxford University, United Kingdom.

He then struggled with Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to get a separate homeland for Muslims of sub-continent. Liaquat Ali Khan was assassinated this day in 1951 during a public meeting at Company Bagh in Rawalpindi which was later named after him as Liaquat Bagh. He is buried at Mazar-e-Quaid compound in Karachi.

Pakistan’s soft image can only be portrayed through promotion of tourism: Prime Minister

Islamabad, October 16, 2020 (PPI-OT):Prime Minister Imran Khan says Pakistan’s soft image can only be portrayed through promotion of tourism, which would not only generate revenue but also open up employment opportunities. Presiding over a meeting of the National Coordination Committee on Tourism in Islamabad, he said the government is focused on eco-tourism to ensure the environmental conservation while managing tourist spots.

The Prime Minister said the Federal Government would provide all possible facilitation to the provincial governments for development and promotion of tourism sector in the country. Special Assistant for Overseas Pakistanis Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari apprised the meeting that substantial work had been undertaken for development of religious tourism.

He said for promotion of hospitality sector, incentives would be provided for import of machinery and equipment. He also presented Tourism Development Plan 2020-21 that includes seven theme parks and development of 60 new sites.

Government well aware of problems of masses: Shibli Faraz

Islamabad, October 16, 2020 (PPI-OT):Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz has said that government is well aware of the problems of the masses and discussions are being made to control inflation and provision of houses to low income group.

In an interview with a private television channel, he said the people are suffering high inflation due to massive corruption and money laundering made by the leaders of Opposition parties. The Minister said the opposition parties are holding public meetings to protect the looted money. To a question, he said that PML-N leaders who had fled the country to avoid corruption and money laundering cases, should return the money of this country.
