Srinagar, October 26, 2020 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won the so-called general council elections for the sixth Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh.
The Leh unit of BJP bagged 15 out of a total of 26 seats. The Congress claimed 9 seats and Independents were victorious on 2 seats. Aam Admi Party also contested the elections but failed to win any seat. The elections took place on Thursday and recorded a 65.07 percent turnout.
Regional parties including National Conference and the Peoples Democratic Party chose to stay away from the election. Kargil district of Ladakh had separate hill council which was elected in 2018 for a five-year term.
