KARACHI:A K-Electric delegation, headed by CEO Moonis Alvi along with members of the leadership team, met with the SITE Superhighway Association of Trade and Industries Karachi as part of the power utility’s drive to further strengthen industry facilitation through closer coordination.

 

According to KE statement on Saturday, during the meeting, current and upcoming challenges faced by industries and KE’s efforts to overcome these challenges were discussed, along with future strategy to address upcoming requirements of the SITE Superhighway Industrial Area.

 

KE’s initiatives to improve service levels for industries include 100% exemption from load-shed in addition to accelerated investments across power value chain to meet the city’s growing power needs. It was also agreed that to help with quick resolution of the association’s issues a Customer Support Centre would be made operational immediately, at space provided by the association. It was also agreed that the processing time and requirements for new connection or load extension would be made simpler and faster.

 

President of S.I.T.E. Superhighway Association of Industry Engr. Nisar Ahmed Khan spoke about KE’s efforts in facilitating industries through initiatives such as a simpler and faster process for acquiring new connections and appreciated K-Electric’s improved accessibility, hailing the formation of a dedicated CS centre with expedited Distribution operational support. KEs approach towards karachi industrial areas is was appreciated by President Engr Nisar Ahmed and assured KE complete professional support at all levels.

 

Moonis Alvi, CEO K-Electric apprised the SITE Superhighway Association leadership about KE’s commitment to facilitating the city’s industrial consumers through upcoming initiatives such as a 900 MW RLNG-based power plant at the power utility’s Bin Qasim power complex. Moonis also spoke about ongoing infrastructure upgrades such as the installation of Aerial Bundled Cable (ABC), which will enhance the reliability and safety of the network. He assured the SITE Superhighway Association of KE’s firm resolve in facilitating industrial consumers.

 

Amer Zia, Chief Distribution Chief Distribution Officer spoke about the USD 450 million TP-1000 project, which is on course for successful completion and will add more than 1,000 MVAs of safe and reliable transmission capacity to the network. He also assured the association members that K-Electric would expedite their requests for shifting of industrial consumers from residential feeders to dedicated feeders and the removal of kundas from the area.

 

It was mutually decided that a focal team representing the association would be formed to provide all possible assistance to KE to facilitate the speedy completion of all initiatives discussed at the meeting.

 

The meeting was also attended by SITE Superhighway Association, Masood Pervaiz Senior Vice President, Chaudhry Muhammad Riaz Vice President, Jamshed Ahmed Chandiwala, Member Executive Committee, Syed shagan shah Alam Member Executive Committee, Raja Ilyas among others.

Burglars steals away Rs 1.8 million from a Larkana shop

LARKANA:A gang of burglars broke locks of an electronics shop and took away Rs 1.8 million cash, a CCTV camera and other material it in the wee hours of Saturday.

 

The looted shop is located at the busiest market of Pakistan Chowk. Owner Asif Shaikh when opened the shop in the morning, he found his material and cash missing. He immediately informed Market police station who visited the shop and acquired details.

 

Asif told newsmen that he wanted to send the money through online for procurement of shop’s commodities, but the thieves stole everything away as if they were aware of everything. He said lawlessness had increased manifold here, but it was astonishing that the rulers were still mum over the issue.

 

It may be noted here that on Friday, three armed men looted Rs 3 lacs from an easyload shopkeeper and also deprived him of costly cell phones in Nazar Muhalla located within the limits of Rahmatpur police station of the city.

 

A shopkeeper, Ashok Kumar of Jelus Bazaar was looted of Rs 2 lacs a few weeks ago when he was on the way to his home. Police got him returned only Rs one lac recently.

(Rocball) Karachi, Westeros, Garden clubs win in Rocball Tourney

KARACHI:Karachi Club, Westeros Club, Garden Club and Garden Warriors recorded victories in 2nd SSP Sirajuddin Rocball Tournament 2020 under here at Mini Sports Complex.

 

Sindh Rocball Association (SRA) is organizing the event From November 6 to 8.

 

A total of 24 different clubs, departments and districts are participating in the event.

 

Karachi Club defeated Ghazi Sports; Westeros Club overpowered Friends Club; Hyderabad defeated Garden Club; Garden Warrior beat Lyari Club.

 

The tournament final will be played today (Sunday).

Zimbabwe’s Chigumbura to retire after T20I series against Pakistan

KARACHI:Zimbabwe veteran Elton Chigumbura is set to retire from international cricket after the conclusion of the ongoing T20I series against Pakistan.

 

The Zimbabwe all-rounder will bring the curtain down on a 16-year international career that began in 2004. Chigumbura has featured in 14 Tests and 213 ODIs, with 54 T20I matches before the start of his farewell series.

 

Before the start of the first T20I against Pakistan, the all-rounder had amassed 5761 international runs and 138 wickets to his name, including two hundreds and 26 half-centuries. He also led his side on 80 occasions on the international stage – in 62 ODIs and 18 T20Is.

 

He is only the second player from Zimbabwe to achieve a double of 4000 runs and 100 wickets in ODI cricket, after Grant Flower.

 

Chigumbura confirmed his decision in a statement by Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) on Saturday, 7 November. According to ZC, the all-rounder is retiring because “injuries had continued to take a toll on him as well as to pave the way for young blood in the national side”.

 

He played a vital role in his side’s famous upset victory over Australia in the 2007 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, in which he returned bowling figures of 3/20 from three overs.

 

He also represented Zimbabwe in two editions of the U19 Cricket World Cup, in 2002 and 2004, featured in the 2011 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and led his side in the 2015 edition of the tournament.

Six injured in Khairpur clash

KHAIRPUR:Six people were injured in a clash in Khairpur’s Wandh area on Saturday.

 

Two groups of Bhutta and Rindh communities clashed in Wandh area of Khanpur. They attacked each other with sticks, a result, six people were injured. The rival groups also exchanged aerial firing.

 

The cause behind the clash was stated to be a plot issue. A heavy contingent of police rushed to the scene and controlled the situation.

 

Panic gripped the area soon after the incident. The police have started an investigation into the issue. No case could be lodged till filing this report.

ISPR: (COAS visits Logistic installations of Lahore Corps)

ISLAMABAD:Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that efficient and smooth logistics will enhance the overall operational readiness and response capacity against adventurism by our enemy.

 

He said this during a visit of Logistic installations of Lahore Corps on Saturday. Chief of Logistic Staff Lieutenant General Azhar Saleh Abbasi, Quartermaster General Lieutenant General Aamir Abbasi and Commander 4 Corps Lieutenant General Majid Ehsan were also present on the occasion.

 

PM: (Health Card Scheme will be extended to entire Punjab by 2021: PM)

ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister Imran Khan has emphatically stated to bring the corrupt elements to justice and recover the plundered amount from them.

 

He was addressing a mammoth public gathering in Hafizabad on Saturday after laying foundation stone of development projects including a hospital and a University.

 

The Prime Minister regretted that a person sitting in London is attacking the state institutions including the judiciary and the Army. He said the PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif is speaking the language of India to protect the looted amount.

 

Imran Khan said the present government’s policies are aimed at reducing poverty, uplift the poor segments of society and ensure rule of law in the country where everybody is equal before the law. He said the journey towards establishing a welfare state has been started and this country will emerge as a great nation on the world map.

 

He said Health Insurance scheme will be extended to the fifty percent population of Punjab by the end of this year and to the whole of province by next year. He said under this scheme, the people will be able to get medical treatment of one million rupees both from the public and private hospitals.

 

The Prime Minister was confident that this helped increase the network of hospitals especially in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said even the richest countries in the world do not have such a health insurance scheme.

 

Imran Khan said Naya Pakistan Housing project has also been started under which the people will be able to get loan on easy installments at the interest rate of five percent to build a five-marla house. He said it is the first time in the country’s history that the people will be able to own their houses.

 

On election reforms, the Prime Minister said it will be his government that will hold the fairest and transparent elections and emerge victorious. He said the process of election reforms has been started and we will use the new technology including the electronic voting.
