PM: (PM tasks Governors to review mechanism for disposal of PCP’s complaints)

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has tasked the provincial Governors to review the mechanism for disposal of complaints registered through the Pakistan Citizen Portal (PCP) pertaining to federal departments operating in their respective provinces.

 

The decision has been taken in view of lacking collective performance review of the Federal Government organizations functioning in the provinces.

 

Under the Prime Minister directives, the Governors would carry out periodic performance evaluation of the Pakistan Citizen Portal dashboards of the Federal Government’s organizations and a senior level focal person would be nominated for regular liaison with the Prime Minister Delivery Unit.

 

The PM Delivery Unit has been directed to create exclusive dashboards for the Governors’ offices and carry out orientation of the nominated focal persons.

SAPM: (India wants to damage regional peace: Moeed Yusuf)

ISLAMABAD:Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Security Dr Moeed Yusuf has said that Pakistan will take all necessary measures to approach the international powers, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and United Nations Secretary General for apprising them regarding sinister design of India.

 

In an interview, he said there are credible reports about Indian agenda for creating instability in Balochistan and other parts of Pakistan. Dr Moeed Yusuf said India also wants to sabotage China Pakistan Economic Corridor and damage the peace in the whole region. About Afghanistan, the Special Assistant said peace in Afghanistan is imperative for security, stability and economic prosperity of the region.

 

He said Pakistan’s efforts for Afghan peace, security, connectivity, and prosperity of the region would continue unabatedly. To a question about relations with the Middle Eastern countries, Moeed Yusuf said Pakistan’s relations with Islamic world are increasing and strengthening day by day.

NCOC: (42 people died of coronavirus over last 24 hours in the country)

ISLAMABAD:Forty-two people died of coronavirus in the country over the last twenty-four hours.

 

According to the latest statistics of National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 2843 tested positive for COVID-19 during the last twenty-four hours after the tests of 42, 752 people.

 

The figure of patients recovered from the virus has reached 328,931. There are now 34,974 active cases in the country.

Diplomatic: (US expresses pleasure over PM’s visit to Afghanistan)

ISLAMABAD:The United States has expressed pleasure over Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recent visit to Afghanistan.

 

In a tweet, the US State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs said it is pleased to see Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Kabul to underscore Pakistan’s commitment to peace and to further cooperation with Afghanistan on security, refugees, trade, and regional connectivity. The statement further said that Pakistan-Afghanistan cooperation contributes to the entire region’s stability.

(CITY): K-Electric, NEPRA host joint consultative session for public DISCOs

KARACHI:K-Electric (KE) and the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) organized a joint session where the publicly owned DISCO’s were briefed about KE’s journey and experience as the first DISCO to implement Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) on an end to end scale.

 

Inaugurating the event, Amer Zia, Chief Distribution Officer (CDO) KE said: “Recently KE has made significant in-roads towards automation at various front-end and back-end levels. AMI has been in the pipeline for over ten years. We are very appreciative of NEPRA and all the DISCO representatives for taking the time out to be here and learn from our experience.”

 

While speaking at the joint session, Mazhar Iqbal Ranjha, Director – NEPRA said; “Energy companies across the globe are moving towards service automation. A move towards AMI can help introduce greater efficiencies while also providing a better user experience for our valued customers”.

 

NEPRA is continuously emphasizing on real time monitoring and that such automated systems can be helpful in monitoring and enforcing regulatory instruments in their true letter and spirit.

 

AMI system has smart meters as core devices. KE representatives briefed the attendees about the long-term advantages associated with moving towards AMI.

 

This includes automated meter reading (first step towards auto billing), power quality monitoring and load management through the availability of timely and accurate information. AMI would also help to enable an improved customer experience.

 

Current challenges connected with the implementation of AMI were also discussed, in particular national demographics. During the session, a brief overview of KE’s Geographical Information System (GIS) was also given to the attendees.

 

The audience was told about KE GIS which enables the utility to capture and analyze geographical data to improve asset monitoring and management.
