48 Ehsaas Nashonuma Centres being established in 13 districts

Islamabad, January 12, 2021 (PPI-OT): Forty-eight Ehsaas Nashonuma Centers are being established in thirteen districts of the country, to provide health services to mothers and children and prevent stunting growth among them. This was informed at the introductory meeting of Ehsaas Nashonuma steering committee in Islamabad, with Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Sania Nishtar in the chair.

The steering committee members were briefed on the progress of Ehsaas Nashonuma programme that is being implemented in partnership with the provinces and World Food Programme. It was informed that Nashonuma is three year programme that will deliver conditional cash transfers to the vulnerable pregnant women and mothers with children under two years, to enable them get nutritious food, immunizations, and attendance of health awareness sessions.

People to face devastating situation in case of apathy towards corona SOPs: Asad Umar

Islamabad, January 12, 2021 (PPI-OT): Minister of Planning and Development Asad Umar warned that Pakistan could face the devastating situation regarding COVID-19 if people would not adopt standard operating procedures in letter and spirit. Talking to a private news channel, he said people should take the coronavirus seriously otherwise it could spread again in the country.

The minister said United State, UK, India and Sweden are facing devastating situation regarding spread of Covid-19, but the grace of Almighty Allah Pakistan is not facing such a situation. He said 1.1 million coronavirus vaccine doses will be available in the country in March 2021 and front line workers including doctor’s paramedical staff will be vaccinated in first phase.

NA body supports Govt’s decision of reopening of educational institutions

Islamabad, January 12, 2021 (PPI-OT): The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training has unanimously supported the government’s decision of reopening educational institutions from 18th of this month. The committee which met in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Najeeb Ud Din Awaisi observed that reopening of the institutions would help overcome educational loss of students.

Parliamentary Secretary for Federal Education Wajiha Akram said the decision of reopening of educational institutions was unanimously taken on the recommendation of National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

Digital payment system ‘Raast’ initiative to help boost formal economy: Prime Minister

Islamabad, January 12, 2021 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Imran Khan has said the ‘Raast’ initiative will help boost formal economy, financial inclusion of women, and eradicate poverty from the country. Addressing the launching ceremony, of Pakistan’s first instant Digital Payment System ‘Raast’ in Islamabad, the Prime Minister said cash economy is the biggest hurdle in tapping true potential of 220 million population of Pakistan and the initiative will take country to digital economy. He said cash economy badly affects tax collection, which is evident from the fact that only two million out of 220 million people are tax filers.

He said digital Pakistan is a step forward from cash economy towards the point, where we can take maximum benefit of the potential of our 220 million population. The Prime Minister congratulated State Bank of Pakistan for working on this initiative of ‘Raast’ and bank efforts for engaging overseas Pakistanis in convincing them to send remittances through formal channels.

PDM adopting undemocratic moves to pressurize institutions: Shibli

Islamabad, January 12, 2021 (PPI-OT): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz has said Pakistan Democratic Movement is adopting undemocratic move against the democratically elected government. Talking to a private news channel, he said PDM Chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman has announced to stage a sit-in in front of the Election Commission of Pakistan and National Accountability Bureau in a bid to pressurize the national institutions.

The minister said the tactics being used by the PDM leaders to pressurize the NAB and ECP for casting aside corruption and money laundering cases, would fail soon. Shibli categorically said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government will never grant national reconciliation ordinance to the leaders of opposition at any cost.

Government to resolve issues of Hazara community on priority basis: Zulfi Bukhari

Ali Muhammad Khan urges opposition to avoid playing with national security

Islamabad, January 12, 2021 (PPI-OT): State Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan said running political movement was constitutional right of the opposition parties but they should avoid playing with national security. Talking to a private TV channel, he said the people have rejected the opposition’s narrative against the national institutions as public is well aware of their nefarious designs. He said opposition would not tender resignations on the advice of Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
