1260 types of saplings planted at Governor’s House

KARACHI:Sindh Governor Imran Ismail inaugurated a pilot project for rapid afforestation using Japanese “Miyawaki” technology in the Governor’s House under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s One Billion Tree Program.

Under this scheme, 1260 different types of plants had been planted on one acre of land in the Governor House. Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the Governor of Sindh said that Miyawaki is a method of rapid tree planting developed by Akira Miyawaki, a Japanese botanist, after 60 years of research.

It’s primary purpose is to contribute to the efforts to improve the climate of Karachi, through which more and more trees can be planted in small and small space, he said.

Hamza Shikoh Khan wins Atlas Honda Amateur Golf title

KARACHI:Hamza Shikoh Khan of Karachi Golf Club played 72 gross to win the Atlas Honda Amateur Golf Championship 2021 here Sunday at the Arabian Sea Country Club golf course.

Zia Hai of KGC was the runner-up with score of 74 gross.

Chairman and CEO Arabian Sea Country Club Arif Ali Khan Abbasi, President Sindh Golf Association Asad I.A. Khan, Vice President Atlas Honda Yukitoshi Fujisaka (Chief Guest), Secretary Arabian Sea Country Club Jawed Kamran graced the prize distribution ceremony, held immediately after the one day 18 holes competition ended.

Asad I.A. Khan praised and thanked Atlas Honda for keeping faith with Arabian Sea Country Club and holding the event annually, for the promotion of the golf.

Shahvaiz Abbas of Karachi Golf Club won the net title with the score of 64. Ghulam Abbas of KGC was runner-up with score of 67.

Maj. Rizwan Farooq of DHA won the senior gross with a total of 75, while Omar Bangash of KGC was runner-up with 76.

Zia Khan of Gul Mohar Golf Club won the net title with the score of 59. Javed Siddique of KGC was runner-up with score of 72.

Governor inaugurates cattle show

KARACHI:Governor Sindh Imran Ismail on Sunday inaugurated three days “DALFA Cattle Show 2021”, here at the Expo Center to highlight investment opportunities in the dairy, livestock and agriculture sectors in Pakistan.

This is a joint venture initiative of Badar Expo Solutions (BXSS) and Dairy Agriculture Livestock Farmers Association (DALFA). The Cattle Show will feature high-breed cattle, birds and domestic animals, for which a special pavilion has been built. The three-day cattle show will feature a variety of activities, including a cattle beauty competition, flower show, bird and pet competition, an ostrich farm and a variety of fish.

The show had been one of the biggest cultural events of the country, offering cattle breeders and enthusiasts a platform for healthy competition, recreation and celebrations. The expo was aimed at promoting the best breeds of goats, cows, sheep, buffaloes, horses, and camels in the country.

Hamdam CC beats Golden Gymkhana in cricket tourney

KARACHI:Hamdam Cricket Club defeated Golden Gymkhana by 94 runs in All Sindh Prof. Ejaz Ahmed Faruqi Invitation Cricket Tournament here at TMC Ground.

In another match, Cantonment Gymkhana overcame Hasnain Cricket Club by 14 runs at Pak Star ground. Niamat Khan picked five wickets for the winning side.

Meanwhile, Sindh Star Cricket Club beat Team Kashmore Cricket Club by six runs at PCB ground in Sukkur. Sindh Star Cricket Club 191 all out in 44.3 overs.

Karandaaz and Haball to run a Pilot to Scale Supply Chain Payments Project

KARACHI:Karandaaz Pakistan, under its Pilot to Scale Program has partnered with Haball, a B2B financial technology company, to run a project that proves the significance of digitizing all supply nodes in the retail value chain for higher acceptance of digital payments.

Under this particular grant, Haball, in collaboration with a corporate entity and branchless banking wallet provider will digitize an entire value chain enabling distributors and their retailers to order and make payments digitally from manufacturers to end-consumers, according to a statement issued on Sunday.

For the purposes of the pilot, Haball will create an ecosystem where payments are made digitally from corporate to retailer level and vice versa. Since retailers will be enabled with digital wallets for making value chain payments, this, in turn, will help them receive payments digitally as well, and the end-consumers will also be able to make digital payments for everyday household items.

232 new cases of corona detected, no death reported in Sindh

KARACHI:Fortunately no death stemming from Coronavirus reported in Sindh on Sunday, however, 232 new cases emerged when 8,975 tests were conducted.

This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here from CM House on Sunday. Shah said that fortunately no death was reported today. He added that till last Saturday the number death and was 4,479.

Shah said that 8,975 samples were tested which detected 232 cases that constituted 2.6 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 3,212,618 tests have been conducted against which 263,289 cases were diagnosed, of them 96.4 percent or 253,730 patients have recovered, including 146 overnight.

The CM said that currently 5,080 patients were under treatment, of them 4,808 were in home isolation, 7 at isolation centers and 265 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 245 patients was stated to be critical, including 36 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 232 new cases, 90 have been detected from Karachi, including 32 from East, 21 West, 16 Korangi, 15 South, Central and Malir 3 each. Hyderabad has 30, Shaheed Benazirabad 15, Kashmore 14, Larkana 11, Shikarpur 9, Jacobabad and Sanghar 7 each, Ghotki, Mirpurkhas and Matiari 6 each, Kamber and Nausheroferoze 5 each, Sujawal and Tand Allahyar 4 each, Khairpur 3, Badin 2 and Jamshoro 1. The chief minister urged people of the province to follow SOPs.
