(NAB does not believe in victimization: Javed Iqbal)

ISLAMABAD: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (r) Javed Iqbal has said NAB does not believe in victimization and the actions against corrupt elements are across the board.

In a statement, he said the prestige and repute of NAB has increased manifold due to its indiscriminate and visible action against big fish. He said NAB has filed 1269 corruption cases having an accumulative value of 950 billion rupees which are subjudice in the accountability courts.

(PM launches campaign at Int’l level to put permanent stop to blasphemous acts)

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said he has launched a campaign at the international level to put a permanent stop to blasphemous acts taking place in the western world.

He was addressing a ceremony here on Monday in connection with the ground-breaking of Margalla highway. The Prime Minister said his aim is to band together the heads of states of Muslim countries and present a strong case of Muslim Ummah on the issue of Islamophobic incidents.

He said we have already highlighted the issue at the forums of the United Nations and the European Union. He was confident that his campaign will bring a change. He said the blasphemous acts against Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wa Sallam Khatim un Nabiyeen hurt the sentiments of the Muslims.

The Prime Minister said this country was carved out on the name of Islam and its people love and adore their religion and Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wa Sallam Khatim un Nabiyeen the most.

He said ransacking our properties and infrastructure on the blasphemous acts only hurts our own people and the country. Turning to the Margalla Highway project, the Prime Minister said given the increase in the population of the federal capital, there is a need to develop more road infrastructure projects in Islamabad.

He assured that the protection of environment will be fully taken care of whilst executing such projects. He said it is the first government which has given serious consideration and priority to deal with the issue of climate change. Imran Khan said the Highway project will not only ensure protection of Margalla Hills National Park but also promote tourism by ensuring easy access to Galiyat like picturesque sites.

(Pakistan committed to further strengthen ties with UAE: FM)

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said Pakistan is committed to further strengthen ties with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Talking to UAE Senior Minister and Commissioner General International Expo 2020 Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nayhan in Abu Dhabi on Monday, he said Pakistan greatly values its decades old relations with the United Arab Emirates.

The Foreign Minister said Pakistan has focused on its economic priorities. He said the two countries have great potential to enhance bilateral cooperation in diverse fields, including trade and investment.

He said Pakistan will fully participate in the International Expo being held in Dubai in October this year. Welcoming the growing bilateral relations, the UAE Senior Minister indicated his full cooperation for enhancement of bilateral cooperation in various fields.

(Negotiation process with defunct outfit TLP in progress: Rashid)

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said negotiation process with defunct outfit Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) is in progress and most of issues have been resolved.

In a video message on twitter on Monday early morning, the Minister said TLP has released eleven police personnel who had been abducted by their activists. He expressed the hope that all issues will be resolved amicably during the next round of talks today.

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said all obstacles on the roads in Lahore have been cleared except one and hopefully it will also be cleared soon. He said the activists of TLP have returned and Punjab government successfully held talks to resolve the issues.

(PM contested case of sanctity of Holy Prophet (PBUH) in unprecedented manner: Fawad)

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain has said the way Prime Minister Imran Khan has contested the case of the sanctity of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wa Sallam Khatim un Nabiyeen, there is no precedence of it.

This he said in a tweet on Monday. The Minister also shared Prime Minister Imran Khan’s address to the UN General Assembly back in 2019.

(Corona virus claims 73 more lives in Pakistan)

ISLAMABAD: As many as 73 deaths due to Coronavirus infection were reported in the country during the last twenty four hours.

According to the statistics of National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 5,152 new positive cases were diagnosed after 60,162 tests conducted in a day. The death toll has now reached 16,316. The positivity ratio remained 8.56 percent.
