(AJK President hails UN report on HR abuses in IIOJK)

ISLAMABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan while welcoming a letter written by the UN human rights experts to the Indian government regarding human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) has said the situation is far worse than the violations mentioned in the letter.

In a statement, he said the Modi government of India wants to turn the Muslim majority into a minority and make the territory of Kashmir a complete Hindu state.

Sardar Masood Khan strongly condemned the latest restrictions imposed by the Indian government on journalists for reporting facts about the incidents of violence in occupied territory.

(Pakistan extends condolence to Egypt on tragic train accident)

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has conveyed its deepest sympathies to Egypt on the tragic train accident.

In a tweet on Monday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said our thoughts and prayers are with the government and the brotherly people of Egypt besides the families of those who lost their loved ones in the train accident. The spokesperson also prayed for the early recovery of those injured in the incident.

(World Liver Day being observed)

ISLAMABAD: World Liver Day is being observed today (Monday) to spread awareness about liver related disease.

Liver diseases can be caused by hepatitis A, B, C, alcohol and drugs. Viral Hepatitis occurs due to consumption of contaminated food, water and drug abuse. If it is not treated on time, these can lead to Liver Cirrhosis and Liver Cancer.

Citizens held protest demonstration against authorities of the Public Health Engineering Department

DALBANDIN: Citizens held a protest demonstration against the authorities of the Public Health Engineering Department outside Dalbandin Press Club on Monday, demanding provision of pure drinking water.

Addressing the protest demonstration, speakers said that most areas of Dalbandin had been deprived of pure drinking water, but no action was being taken by the PHE Department authorities for addressing the genuine demand of the people of Dalbandin.

They said that if that genuine problem was not addressed, National Party would launch a protest movement against the authorities of Public Health Engineering Department. The demonstration was addressed by provincial labour secretary, National Party, Sardar Rafique Shair Baloch, District Organizer, Mir Atif Baloch, Tehsil President, Zafar Baloch and others.

AC founds CMO, other staff absent at Pishin hospital

QUETTA: Hazrat Wali Kakar, Assistant Commissioner, Pishin, during inspection of DHQ Hospital Pishin, found CMO and other subordinate staff absent.

Following the direction of Deputy Commissioner Pishin Qaim Lashari, Assistant Commissioner Pishin, Hazrat Wali Kakar paid a visit to District Headquarter Hospital in Pishin on Monday.

During inspection, Dr Mujahid Ali, Chief Medical Officer, DHQ, Pishin along with other doctors were found absent from emergency duty while cleanliness of the hospital was in a very pathetic condition.

Kakar recommended to the competent authority that the services of Dr Mujahid Ali, CMO, DHQ, Pishin might be placed under suspension apart from taking disciplinary proceedings against other absent doctors and staff.

NAB files reference against 15 persons in irregularities case

QUETTA: The National Accountability Bureau Balochistan (NAB) filed a reference against 15 persons including five Tehsildars for tampering with revenue record and illegal sale of government land in Gwadar district.

An investigation carried out by the NAB Balochistan into government land scheme of Gwadar’s Mouza Ankara North revealed that current Tehsildar Gwadar Buhair Dashti and former Gwadar Tehsildars including Tariq Gachki, Nisar Ahmad Gurgej, Noor Bizenjo, Nazir Bizenjo’s Qanoongo Abdul Razzaq, Gardawar Sed Khudadadshah, Patwari Javed Ali, Asoomi by tampering with official records, sold 844 acres of land to private individuals.

The illegal sale of government land caused a loss of Rs. 214 million to the national exchequer. The National Accountability Bureau Balochistan after completing investigation into the irreparable damage to the national exchequer filed the reference.

Iftar party by HYC to help promote interfaith harmony: Advani

KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Minority Wing central leader Dr Sham Sunder K Advani has said that the Iftar party hosted by the Hindu Youth Council is a welcome step and it would help in further promoting interfaith harmony.

Addressing the Iftar party hosted by Pakistan Naujawan Hindu Council chairman Wishal Aanad at the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants Association (ICMA), he said such gatherings are necessary for promoting tolerance and pluralism. He said minorities in Pakistan had been playing a due role in development of the country since the creation of Pakistan. He hoped that such gatherings would also be held in future. Dr Advani said that the Hindu youth of Karachi were playing a leading role in promoting religious harmony in Pakistan.

On the occasion, MPA Dr Lal Chand Ukrani, MPA Dr Naved Anjum, ex-MPA Bhawan Das, ex-MPA Munawar Lal, Salar Wasan Advocate, President Youth Wing Pirya Devi, secretary tourism Adil Dayo, Arshid Ali Abbasi, Ramesh Kumar, Besham Kumar, Gulab Rai, Mehak Raj and others were also present.
