Provincial Minister Ejaz Alam reviews development works in Okara

 

LAHORE:  Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Ejaz Alam Augustine said on Monday that all available resources were being utilized to put the country on road to development and prosperity under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

 

He stated this while reviewing development works in Okara, said a handout. The minister said the coming budget would definitely prove to be a people-friendly while the Punjab government was taking special interest in development works.

 

He reviewed tuff tiles and other development works in Yousuf Colony, Ahmed Town. Later, he visited St James Catholic Church and inspected steps taken for its renovation.

 

Customs team seizes smuggled goods worth millions of rupees

QUETTA:  Collectorate of Customs Balochistan claimed to have seized smuggled foreign goods, including American almonds, tyres and dry milk, worth millions of rupees, in different operations on Monday.

 

According to Collectorate of Customs Balochistan, operations were conducted in Taftan, Rakni and Lakpass check posts where foreign goods, including American almonds, tyres and dry milk, worth millions of rupees were seized. The seized items were being smuggled to the interior of the country.

 

The vehicles used for smuggling were also impounded. Operations were conducted by Deputy Collector, Akbar Jan, Assistant Collector, Taftan, Baz Gul and Assistant Collector, Rakni, Tousaf Marri in compliance with the directives of Chief Collector, Collectorate of Customs, Balochistan, Gul Rehman and Collector Customs, Quetta, Irfan Javed.

 

Woman, youth gunned down over alleged illicit

LARKANA:  A man allegedly gunned down his daughter-in-law and a youth on the pretext of honour killing in Manzoor Mugheri village within the limits of Sujawal Junejo police station on Monday.

 

According to details, Mumtaz Mugheri allegedly shot dead his daughter-in-law Shahzadi, 26, wife of Ali Mardan Mugheri, and Altaf Mugheri, 20, on the pretext of honour killing in Manzoor Mugheri village.

 

According to police, Mumtaz fired shots from his repeater and killed both on the spot after seeing them in compromising positions. SHO Ahmed Nawaz Tunio said that the accused had been arrested along with the weapon used in the killing and had also confessed to the committing the crime.

 

Both the bodies were shifted to Miro Khan Taluka Hospital for fulfillment of legal formalities by the police but due to unavailability of a lady doctor there, the body of the woman was again sent to Shahdadkot Hospital for an autopsy. Altaf Mugheri is the nephew of accused Manzoor Mugheri, police added. Police have started a probe into the incident. No case could be registered till filing this report.

Balochistan notifies task force for Covid vaccination

QUETTA:  The Balochistan government has notified a14-member Provincial Task Force for COVID-19 vaccination with Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi, Parliamentary Secretary for Health as its convener.

 

Buledi has been tasked to serve as focal point for mass vaccination drive, manage all district task forces, ensuring availability of vaccines and logistics distribution plan, monitor the collection data and reporting of vaccination of the targeted population.

 

Rubaba will also have to resolve the issues related to online applications, consult any other issues related to vaccination, ensure coordination with public and private sectors for expedition of mass vaccination drive. All Deputy Commissioners of the province have been requested to notify the District Task Force for COVID-19 vaccination.

 

Five-day Anti-polio drive kicks off in Punjab

LAHORE:  A five-day anti-polio drive was started across the 20 districts of Punjab from Monday. According to the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department spokesperson here that more than 14.182 million children up to the age of five would be vaccinated across the province.

 

The anti-polio campaign will be conducted in Attock, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Jhang, Kasur, Lahore, Layyah, Lodhran, Mianwali, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Nankana Sahib, Okara, Rajanpur, Rawalpindi, Rahim Yar Khan, Sheikhupura and Sialkot districts.

 

The Punjab health department formed 33,000 teams for mobile and fixed sites in the province to conduct a successful polio campaign. The training phase of micro planning and polio teams were completed before the campaign.

 

Masks and sanitizers were provided to the teams to protect against corona in all districts. The health department urged the parents to vaccinate their children in order to get better results. For any information, citizens were advised to contact 1033 Health helpline.

We will sit outside Sindh Assembly: Dr Qadir Magsi

KARACHI:  Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party (STP) Chairman Dr. Qadir Magsi said on Monday that they would stage sit-in outside Sindh Provincial Assembly against atrocities of the Sindh government against nationalists.

 

He said this while addressing a press conference in Hyderabad Press Club (HPC). “Registering cases and arresting people will not stop our struggle, these tactics are being used by the Sindh government to stop the struggle against Bahria Town,” he said.

 

Magsi said that after registering cases against nationalist leadership, Sindh government has clearly shown its stand on Bahria Town Karachi. “We are not individuals, we led parties with thousands of members, we will continue our struggle against the injustice of Bahria Town,” he said.

 

He said that the entrance gate, shops, and markets in Bahria Town were being set ablaze by police and Bahria Town administration to disperse the protest. “We will sit adjacent the Sindh assembly when budget session is announced,’’ he said. He also condemned the arrest of JSQM Chairman and demanded his immediate release.

Durrani shocked over loss of life in trains accident

 

KARACHI:  The Speaker, Provincial Assembly of Sindh, Agha Siraj Durrani, has expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the two trains accident near Ghotki.

 

In his message, the speaker prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss.
