Minister: (Pakistan is not siding with any group in Afghanistan: Fawad)

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain has emphatically stated that Pakistan is not siding with any group in Afghanistan.

Addressing a ceremony organized by Pak-Afghan Youth Forum here on Friday, he said his country is trying to create an atmosphere and situation where all groups of Afghanistan can come together and form an inclusive government.

This is the only way Afghanistan can actually form a stable government and peaceful society. He said no one group in Afghanistan is in a position to capture the whole of Afghanistan. The Information Minister noted that solid economic future of this region lies in a stable and peaceful Afghanistan and all our efforts are directed towards that end.

He said we want to open up to the Central Asian States and build strong communication linkages with them. He said Pakistan has already signed a railway track project with Uzbekistan that will pass through Afghanistan.

Likewise, he said, we want to provide access of Gwadar and Karachi ports to the Central Asian States. He stressed that only a stable Afghanistan can guarantee the frequency of communication in the region.

President: (President approves appointment of additional judges in Sindh, Peshawar HCs)

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has approved the appointment of additional judges in Sindh and Peshawar High Courts (HCs).

The approval has been given in accordance with Article 175 A of the Constitution. For Sindh High Courts, the names of Justice Ms Rashida Asad, Justice Abdul Mobeen Lakho and Justice Zulfiqar Ali Sanghi have been approved.

For Peshawar High Court, the assent has been given to the names of Justice Sahibzada Asadullah, Justice Muhammad Naeem Anwar and Justice Waqar Ahmad.

FM: (Pakistan remains committed to expand its relationship with Bahrain: FM)

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said Pakistan attaches importance to its close relations with Bahrain and remains committed to expand this relationship in all spheres of bilateral cooperation.

He expressed these views while meeting with King of Bahrain, Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa in Manama. The Foreign Minister expressed deep gratitude to the Kingdom of Bahrain for hosting a large number of Pakistani citizens. He conveyed the warm regards of the President and the Prime Minister to the King of Bahrain, as well as best wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the brotherly people of Bahrain.

On the occasion, the King of Bahrain expressed appreciation for the contribution made by the Pakistani expatriate community towards progress and economic development of his country. He also underlined that Bahrain values its historic relationship with Pakistan and desires to further augmenting the bilateral relationship for mutual benefit.

NA Speaker: (NA Speaker proposes operationalizing direct flights between Pakistan, Azerbaijan)

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan strongly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and its stance on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.

This was stated by Speaker National Assembly, Asad Qaiser, while meeting Minister for Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov at Azri capital Baku. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the prospects of enhancing cooperation in various fields.

The Speaker National Assembly also emphasized the need for operationalizing direct flights between Azerbaijan and Pakistan for promoting people-to-people contacts between the two brotherly countries. He further underscored the importance of relaxation of visa policies particularly for the students on the two sides.

On this occasion, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan said that his country strongly supports Pakistan over its just and legitimate stance over the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. He reaffirmed that Azerbaijan will continue to extend its support on Jammu and Kashmir issue at all international fora.

SAPM: (Program for Prevention, Control of Hepatitis to be made successful: Dr Faisal)

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan has said the program for Prevention and Control of Hepatitis will be made successful. Addressing a ceremony here on Friday, he said it will be his utmost effort to get the required funding for this program.

He said a survey was also conducted to check the prevalence of Hepatitis in the country. He said efforts are afoot to provide better treatment services to the Hepatitis patients. Dr Faisal Sultan said a major success has been achieved in the fight against polio as no polio case has been detected over the last six months.
