NCOC: (Covid-19 claims 65 more lives in country over last 24 hours)

ISLAMABAD: As many as 65 more deaths due to Coronavirus and 4,950 new positive cases of the infection have been reported in the country over the last 24 hours.

According to National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 58,479 tests were conducted, while positivity ratio remained eight point four six percent. The death toll due to pandemic in the country has reached 23,360.

CPEC: (Work on Suki Kinari hydropower project in full swing: Asim Bajwa)

ISLAMABAD: China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Chairman Lt-Gen (r) Asim Saleem Bajwa has said that work on Suki Kinari hydropower project is in full swing.

In a press release, he said the Suki Kinari hydropower project will generate 884 MW of electricity. Asim Saleem Bajwa said that 1.9 billion dollars are being invested in the Suki Kanari hydropower project and 66 percent of work on the project has been completed.

Agha for providing basic facilities without any discrimination

ISLAMABAD: Governor Balochistan, Syed Zahoor Ahmed Agha, has said that provision of basic facilities to the people at their threshold without any discrimination was the foremost responsibility of the government which would be ensured at any cost.

These views were expressed by him while talking to Muhammad Tariq Malik, Chairman, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) who called on him here on Saturday. Chairman, NADRA felicitated Syed Zahoor Ahmed Agha on assuming the charge of the post of Governor Balochistan.

Directing Chairman NADRA for setting up new offices of NADRA in the far flung areas of Balochistan province, Agha said that steps were required to be taken for redressing the grievances of people and improving the performance of NADRA in Balochistan. He added that the government had prioritized provision of basic facilities to the people at their threshold without any discrimination.

Minister: (Pak-China relationship higher than Himalayas: Interior Minister)

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has said the accused in Noor Mukadam case will be brought to justice at all costs.

Talking to media persons in Rawalpindi on Saturday, he said they will not be spared under any circumstances. As regards the abduction case of Afghan Ambassador’s daughter, the Interior Minister said details of investigation into the incident and the video footage has been provided to the Foreign Office.

To a question, the Interior Minister said some forces are involved in conspiracies to undermine the CPEC and Pakistan-China relations. He, however, said these elements will not succeed in their evil designs. He said Pak-China relationship is higher than the Himalayas.

The Interior Minister said complete lockdown in Sindh will be damaging. He said the Sindh government should emulate Prime Minister Imran Khan’s policy of smart lockdown which has also got worldwide recognition.

Earlier, addressing a ceremony, Sheikh Rashid said Rawalpindi will be made a city of Universities. He said Viqar-un-Nisa post graduate college will also be given the status of a university. The Interior Minister said Nullah Lai expressway project is his priority and its completion will change the landscape of the city.

Anniversary: (Birth anniversary of Madr-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah being observed)

ISLAMABAD: 128th birth anniversary of Madr-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah is being observed today (Saturday).

She was born on this day in 1893 in Karachi. Miss Fatima Jinnah obtained a dental degree from Dr Ahmed Dental College of the University of Calcutta in 1923 and practiced as a dental doctor in Mumbai.

She left the profession and worked side by side with her brother, Quaid-e- Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and gathered the women of sub-continent on one platform which made the struggle for achieving a separate state for Muslims easier.

In 1947, Fatima Jinnah formed the Women’s Relief Committee, which later formed the nucleus for the All Pakistan Women’s Association. Fatima Jinnah is still remembered for her passionate support for civil rights and devoted struggle in Pakistan Movement.

SAPM: (SAPM asks PML N to accept AJK polls’ results instead of leveling baseless allegations)

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs Muhammad Usman Dar has asked Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to accept the results of Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections instead of leveling baseless allegations of poll rigging and horse-trading.

Talking to a private news channel, he said PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz adopted anti-state narrative during the election campaign in AJK. He said she never criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is involved in killing of innocent Kashmiri people.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan has comprehensively highlighted the Kashmir cause at all international fora and urged the international community to come forward and take notice of bloodbath and genocide perpetrating by the Indian troops in the territory. To a question, he said PTI government has strengthened and stabled the national economy through prudent economic policies besides giving foremost priority to the agricultural growth.

ISPR: (Pakistan Army organizes multinational joint medal parade at DRC HQ)

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army, being one of the largest troops contributing country in the UN missions, for the first time in the history, organized multinational joint medal parade for awarding United Nation’s Medal in recognition of the services and humanitarian efforts rendered by the peacekeepers.

According to the ISPR, Force Commander of UN Stabilization Mission in Congo, Lieutenant General Marcos Affonso Da Costa, witnessed the parade that was held at Pakistan Army Contingent Headquarters in Democratic Republic of Congo. Units from China, Indonesia and Uruguay participated along with Pakistani contingent. A large number of military and civilian dignitaries also attended the colourful event.
