No compromise to be made on education reforms: Rind

KHUZDAR: Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind, Provincial Minister for Colleges, Higher, Technical and Secondary Education has directed Director, Secondary Education Department, Balochistan and District Education Officer, Khuzdar to submit report regarding absence of teachers at Government Girls High School, Kaka Mir, Wadh, District Khuzdar.

These directives were issued during surprise visit of Government Girls High School, Kaka Mir, Tehsil Wadh, District Khuzdar on Sunday. Expressing indignation over the taking of 10 classes by one female teacher, he said it was not known as to how one teacher was imparting education on the students of 10 different classes. He directed Director Secondary Education Department, Balochistan and District Education Officer, Khuzdar to submit detailed report regarding absence of staff.

He added that presence of staff at their respective places of posting would be ensured at any cost, adding that no compromise would be made on the reforms to be introduced in education department. Rind directed the concerned authorities to initiate strict disciplinary proceedings against the absent staff and issue appreciation certificate in respect of present teacher.

Plea to cancel PMC on-line entry test

QUETTA: Abdul Razzaq, President, Medical Entry Test Student Committee has called on authorities to cancel on-line entry test conducted by Pakistan Medical Commission for admission in Bolan Medical College and instead conduct physical test of the candidates.

Addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club here on Sunday with other candidates, he said that the introduction of on-line entry test by Pakistan Medical Commission was altogether contrary to the ground realities, adding that visible irregularities and mismanagement were observed during on-line entry test.

He called on authorities to cancel on-line entry test conducted by Pakistan Medical Commission for admission in Bolan Medical College, Quetta and instead simultaneous test of all candidates be conducted. He also demanded of the authorities to get the services of those officers suspended who were involved in torturing students and initiate disciplinary proceedings against the responsible officers.

Youth killed, other injured in traffic accident near Moro

NAUSHEHRO FEROZE: A youth was killed and another injured in a traffic accident on Dadu-Moro link road near here on Sunday.

According to rescue sources, a speeding truck hit a motorcycle on Dadu-Moro link road at City Garden area near Moro. As a resul, youth Asif Lakher was killed while Zaffar Lakher sustained injuries.

The body and injured were shifted to Taluka Hospital Moro for medico-legal formalities and treatment, respectively. The body was handed over to her relatives after conducting a postmortem examination.

100 years of Mohenjo Daro excavation to be celebrated

LARKANA: The meeting of Technical Consultative Committee (TCC) for National Funds for Mohenjo Daro was held at Pakistan Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (PITHAM) recently in Karachi to discuss the Centenary Celebration of 100 years of Mohenjo Daro Excavation in Pakistan and Abroad. A big event is lined up considering the importance of the site as one of the oldest and the most important civilizations of the world. Important decisions were taken regarding conferences, publications and collaborative activities.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Kaleemullah Lashari, Chairman of the TCC which was participated by geologist Dr. Sarfraz Solangi, Sikander Ali Hulio, archeologist Ghulam Mustafa Shar, Director General, Tourism, Conservation and Archeology Department, Manzoor Ahmed Kanasro, Director Abdul Fatah Shaikh, architect Naveed Sangah and others.

The meeting decided to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the excavation of Mohenjo Daro in a befitting manner which was launched in 1921. It was also decided that known German archeologist Prof. Michel Johnson will write a book on the excavation history, research work so far made in and out of Pakistan which will be published through NFM Fund.

The meeting was given a detailed briefing by architect Sangah about the conservation and development works claimed to have been carried out at Mohenjo Daro for the past three months. German Ambassador meets opposition leader Haleem

KARACHI: The Central Vice President PTI and Leader of the Opposition in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh said Sunday that Pakistan offered lucrative investment opportunities in different sectors of economy.

He expressed these views in a meeting with German Ambassador in Pakistan Bernhard Schlagheck here at his residence today. Wing commander (r) Q Muhammad Hakim was also present at the occasion. Both the sides discussed various issues of mutual interest and ways to further enhance bilateral relations of friendly countries.

Haleem informed the German envoy about projects being carried out under manifesto of PTI and a three-year performance of Prime Minister Imran Khan-led federal government. The German envoy appreciated PTI government for its achievements in three years and also lauded measures of Pakistan government to deal with COVID-19 situation and ensuring Ehsaas Program, a government’s flagship social security initiative to support low income groups.

Haleem said that diplomatic relations of Germany and Pakistan spanned over 70 years and both the sides were eager to further cement the bilateral ties for benefit of people of both of the countries. He also appreciated Germany for playing admirable role in socio-economic development of Pakistan and said that Pakistan offered the best opportunities of investment and trade to German investors and businesses. Haleem said that the German investors could utilize opportunities of investment in automobile sector.

PPP men not allowed for election campaign: Kakar

QUETTA: Rozi Khan Kakar, General Secretary, Pakistan Peoples Party, Balochistan, has said we have been raising voice right from the first day when schedule for conducting local bodies election for Cantonment Boards of Quetta, Loralai and Zhob districts was announced that selected federal government has made a well devised strategy to rig the election of cantonment boards.

Talking to media outside Boys Scouts Headquarters here on Sunday, he said that candidates of Pakistan Peoples Party were contesting the election of local bodies in Cantonment Boards of Zhob, Loralai and Quetta, but leaders and workers of PPP were not allowed for election campaign.

He said that during its tenure of three years, selected government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf did nothing for the welfare of people, but during the election campaign of cantonment boards, street lights and boring for water tube wells were being installed in different constituencies of cantonment boards besides giving cash money to the voters.

Kakar said that PPP had fielded candidates against five seats of Quetta Cantonment Board, but leaders and workers of PPP were not permitted to approach voters in cantonment area of Quetta. He said that Governor Balochistan and Deputy Speaker, National Assembly were directly meddling with the election campaign of cantonment boards which could be judged from the fact that few polling stations were changed one day before the election. He said that people of the country were fed up with the present rulers and they wanted to see the government of Pakistan Peoples Party.

Call to reduce fee for participation in German exhibition

LAHORE: Senior Vice Chairman, Pakistan Carpets Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMAEA) Riaz Ahmed Sunday demanded of the government to review entry fee for the participants in Domotax exhibition to be held in Germany.

In a joint statement, Ahmed said due to the coronavirus pandemic and decrease in exports in Pakistan, the carpet manufacturers were not in a position to pay full fee to participate in the aforesaid exhibition.

He said Domotax is the world’s biggest body in terms of promoting Pakistani handmade carpets in the international carpet market. He also demanded of the government to fully cooperate with the carpet exporters and appealed that in view of crunch facing the Pakistani carpet industry, a formula of 80/20 expenditure be implemented so that maximum number of Pakistani carpet traders could attend the mega event at the global market where India is the largest exporter and main competitor against Pakistan.

He also called for granting special Subsidy to the carpet exporters. In the current situation, restrictions on multiple participants should also be withdrawn on companies exporting carpets since long because new carpet traders would hardly join the exhibition as a result it would be a great blow to the Pakistani carpet exporters as we are confronting India a commercial rival of exporting Pakistani carpets in the global market.

He said the government should encourage Pakistani traders, enabling them to establish maximum stalls to grab good business for Pakistan. It is to mention here that Trade Development Authority Pakistan (TDAP) had invited applications from the interested participants willing to attend Domotax exhibition to be held in Germany.
