Demo in Muzaffarabad against Modi’s speech in UNGA

Muzaffarabad, September 25, 2021 (PPI-OT):People held a protest demonstration in Muzaffarabad, today, against the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s address to the United Nations General Assembly. A large number of people gathered at Shaheed Burhan Wani Chowk in Muzaffarabad under the aegis of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir and chanted anti-Modi slogans and waved black flags.

The protesters were also holding banners and placards with slogans against India and Modi and in favour of Kashmir’s freedom form Indian illegal occupation. The protesters marched on the main highway from Shaheed Burhan Wani Chowk to Gharipan Chowk.

Addressing the protesters, Pasban-e-Hurriyat Chairman, Uzair Ahmad Ghazali said that the address to the UN General Assembly by a person who massacred humanity in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and India was a blot on peace and justice.

Other speakers said, the speech of Narendra Modi in the UN General Assembly is unacceptable to the peace and justice-seeking nations around the world. They maintained that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, Bharatiya Janata Party, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Rashtriya Swayamsevak and other Hindu extremist organizations were trying to erase Islamic history, heritage and culture in IIOJK.

The speakers deplored that people in the occupied territory, particularly Muslims, are not safe from Narendra Modi-led racist ideology and they face the brutalities of Indian armed forces just for their legitimate freedom struggle. “We are astonished that a person who is responsible for massacre of Muslims in Gujarat and IIOJK has been allowed to address the most prestigious organization of the world,” the speakers said.

Killed cop’s family cries foul, seeks probe in IIOJK

Jammu, September 25, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the family of the policeman, Ajay Dhar, who was recently shot dead by a colleague in Kupwara, said the police department is attempting a “cover-up”, and demanded justice.

Ajay Dhar, a follower in the police department posted in Handwara, died on Wednesday after being shot by a sentry guarding a temple, officials said. As per the preliminary investigation, Dhar was going from the Handwara police station to sleep at the temple located in main Handwara town, they said.

“The victim was using headphones on his mobile phone. When he reached near the temple, the guard there observed suspicious movement and signalled him to stop. Dhar apparently could not hear the sentry, prompting him to open fire,” an official said. As Dhar’s dead body reached his residence at Jagti camp on the outskirts of Jammu city on Thursday, hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits gathered outside and held protests, demanding a probe into the killing.

Speaking to reporters, the victim’s younger sister, Neha, said, “We want justice for my brother Ajay, not compensation or money. The police are telling lies. We want a high level probe.” She added that they don’t trust the statements of the police, and the authorities must order a probe by either the NIA or the CBI. “It is a cold-blooded murder,” another family member said.

At UN, Pakistan firmly rejects India’s claim on Kashmir as India’s ‘integral part’

New York, September 25, 2021 (PPI-OT):At the United Nations, Pakistan has firmly rejected India’s claim that Jammu and Kashmir is its integral part. Reacting to the Indian claim, Pakistani delegate Saima Saleem said that occupied Kashmir was not a “so-called integral part of India nor is it India’s internal matter”.

“India remains in occupation of an internationally recognised disputed territory whose final disposition needs to be decided in accordance with the democratic principle of a free and impartial plebiscite under UN auspices, as provided for under numerous resolutions of the Security Council,” she said.

She said that India was levelling baseless allegations and relying on “outright lies and obfuscation” to divert attention from human rights violations in occupied Kashmir. “India’s compulsive obsession with Pakistan is neither new nor surprising. It has permeated its ruling elite and governance structures. “But there is a method to this obsession as it underpins India’s electoral and foreign policy under the ruling RSS-BJP ‘Hindutva’ inspired government.”

She said that the EU Disinfo lab had explained how India has used such tools of deflection, deception and disinformation against Pakistan, including at the United Nations. She said that Indian human rights violations in occupied Kashmir were also documented in two reports by the UN High Commissioner on Human Rights.

The Pakistani representative said a witch-hunt had been launched against those who “dared to report the crimes”. “Only last year, Amnesty International ceased work in India citing constant harassment at the hands of the government,” she pointed out.

She added that the Pakistani government had recently released a comprehensive dossier on the systemic and widespread human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian security forces in the occupied valley. “We call upon the international community to take cognisance of the compelling evidence and hold India accountable for the heinous crimes.

“If India has nothing to hide, it must accept a UN commission of inquiry and agree to implement the Security Council resolutions stipulating a plebiscite to enable the people of Jammu and Kashmir to exercise their right to self-determination,” she said.

Commenting on the Indian allegations of Pakistan sponsoring terrorism, she said: “As for India’s use of the canard of terrorism, regurgitating stale arguments that are typical of all occupiers. “Let me emphasise that India itself is the principal perpetrator, sponsor, financier and abettor of terrorism in the region.”

She said that India was currently involved in at least four different types of terrorism. First being state terrorism to suppress the people of occupied Kashmir. Second, funding and supporting terrorist groups, such as the proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which is involved in cross border terrorist attacks against Pakistani military and civilian targets.

Third, India is financing and organising mercenary terrorist organisations against Pakistan to impede economic growth and prosperity of the region, the Pakistani representative said, adding that Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval had also publicly admitted to this. Fourth, India is being guided by a supremacist ideology that has mainstreamed Islamophobia and bigotry against minorities, particularly Muslims, in its political discourse, she said.

The Pakistani representative concluded her speech by stating that the Indian delegation would do well to reflect on the troubling trajectory of their state, rather than “indulging in patent falsehoods about Pakistan”. “India must realise that it has continuously and miserably failed to suppress the Kashmiris living under its occupation from demanding their inalienable right to self-determination,” she said.
