Modi regime continuing with ‘normalcy acrobatics’ in IIOJK: Mehbooba

Srinagar, September 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti while describing the local administration as having been reduced to mere “PR and propaganda machinery” instead of alleviating people’s misery, has taunted Modi regime in India for continuing with its ‘normalcy acrobatics in the territory.

Mehbooba Mufti, President of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), wrote on micro-blogging site twitter that there are back to back ministerial visits followed by “PR antics” such as air show in Srinagar to showcase normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Amused that Indian government continues its normalcy acrobatics in J and K. Back to back ministerial visits followed by PR antics such as Air Show in Srinagar to showcase normalcy when J and Ks shattered economy has suffered losses worth Rs 40,000 crores since 2019,” Mehbooba wrote.

At a time when youth are committing suicide and unemployment rate is 17.8 per cent the local admin has become a PR and propaganda machinery instead of alleviating people’s misery. Governance has been reduced to PR exercises and covering up the truth, she said. No concern whatsoever for the people of J and K, she added.

Unprecedented India-wide strike against farm laws

New Delhi, September 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):An unprecedented India-wide strike is being observed, today, to mark the 1st anniversary of 3 controversial farm laws enacted by the Modi regime to choke farmers. Call for the strike has been given by Indian farmers’ union, Samyukt Kisan Morcha, against the contentious farmer laws introduced by Modi govt in September last year that have sparked one of India’s biggest protests in the country.

Particularly in Punjab and Haryana states of India, all national highways, state highways, link road and railway tracks have been severally blocked, bringing road and rail traffic to a halt. In Punjab, farmers have started protesting at over 350 places.

Punjab’s Additional Director General of Police (AGDP) has issued instructions to the police forces of the state to ensure law and order at protest places. In Haryana too, highways are blocked 25 places alone in the Jind district. The strike has garnered support from various political parties. India’s main opposition parties are fully supporting the Bharat Bandh call given by the protesting farmers.

While Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has extended support to the bandh, Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav has announced he will participate in the nationwide strike. The Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu governments, too, have declared complete support to the Bandh. Congress has also said it will be joining the protests on Monday.

Hundreds of thousands of Indian farmers have been protesting since Nov 2020 against these farm laws. Samyukt Kisan Morcha, the umbrella body of over 40 farm unions, is leading the Indian farmers’ agitation against the controversial agricultural laws.

All India Bank Officers’ Confederation has also backed the Bharat Bandh call by Indian farmers’ union. Most of the offices, shops, industries and commercial establishments are closed across India. However, all emergency establishments and essential services, including hospitals, medical stores, relief and rescue work and people attending to personal emergencies, are exempted.

Indian farmers are determined to continue their protest until the farm laws are withdrawn unconditionally. The famers blame that RSS-backed Narendra Modi wants the poor farmers of India to die of hunger so that he can fill the stomachs of his rich friends. They pointed out that Modi’s refusal to withdraw the agricultural laws is indicative of his insensitivity towards the farmers’ plight.

Female personnel in Indian armed forces reduced to mere sex objects

New Delhi, September 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):Female personnel in Indian armed forces have been reduced to the position of mere sex objects and their presence in a camp or base converts into more of a brothel than a forces’ camp or base with the latest such scandal taking place at the Indian Air Force facility in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

According to Kashmir Media Service, an officer of the Indian Air Force was arrested in the Tamil Nadu state of India for raping a colleague. The police told media that the alleged sexual assault took place ten days ago.

“Yes, he was arrested yesterday and sent to judicial custody for two days,” senior police official Deepak Damon confirmed to the media. The accused officer, a 29-year-old Flight Lieutenant, investigators say, had come from Chhattisgarh for training at the Air Force facility near Race Course, in Coimbatore, the second largest city in Tamil Nadu. “A case of sexual assault under section 376 has been registered.

Earlier, India Today in a report titled “Large majority of Special Frontier Force officers involved in messy sex scandal” has reported that nearly 500 female personnel have been reduced to the position of sex objects and whose presence has turned the SFF headquarters at Chakrata, north of Dehra Dun, into more of a brothel than the nerve centre of a top secret organisation.

“The females – most of them between the ages of 19 and 30 were recruited from among the Tibetan exiles in India on a specific five-year contract as “volunteer trainees” in the capacity of radio operators, nursing assistants and clerical staff.

APHC rejects any Kashmir solution within Indian legal framework

Srinagar, September 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference while paying rich tributes to the martyrs of Bandipora, Uri and other parts of the territory has said that the freedom-loving Kashmiri people are indebted to the precious sacrifices given by the youth for the sacred cause.

The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar reiterating the pledge to take the ongoing resistance movement to its logical conclusion reaffirmed that the Kashmiris would never allow anyone to sabotage the freedom movement for petty political or material gains.

He rejected any solution to the Kashmir issue within the Indian constitution and clarified that Kashmiri martyrs have rendered their precious lives for the absolute freedom from Indian illegal occupation.

The spokesman strongly condemned the incessant use of brute force, killing the innocent youth in fake encounters and custody. He said that organising aerial military activities on the world famous Dal Lake in the name of entertainment and mock drills has created a frightful atmosphere, but clarified that the freedom sentiments of the people of Kashmir could not be suppressed through such things.

He urged the United Nations Council for Human Rights and other human rights organisations, including, Amnesty international, Human Rights Watch and International Committee of Red Cross to visit the war-torn territory of Jammu and Kashmir and take stock of the grim situation with regard to Indian brutalities, mass killings and arbitrary arrests in Kashmir.

The APHC spokesman also demanded an early resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations Security council resolutions and the wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Imran Khan praised for highlighting plight of IIOJK people at UN speech

Srinagar, September 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Islamic Political Party, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash has said that the Kashmiris are grateful to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for supporting their struggle for right to self-determination in his speech at the UN General Assembly.

Naqash in a statement in Srinagar said that the steps taken at the international level by Prime Minister Imran Khan and his entire team on the Kashmir issue are commendable and are encouraging for Kashmiris.

Expressing the aspirations of Kashmiris, the Prime Minister fulfilled his responsibility as a lawyer, he said and added that Pakistan is our benefactor and it has always supported us in our good and bad times, he said. The manner in which Imran Khan exposed India’s highhanded tactics to the world in his speech at the UNGC meeting is an example to follow, he added.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi presented a dossier to the UN Secretary General with concrete evidence on India’s human rights violations in Kashmir, which is a source of encouragement to the Kashmiris, the Kashmiri leader maintained.

Muhammad Yousuf Naqash made it clear that Kashmir has never been, is and will never be part of India. “The increase in Indian military, paramilitary, BSF, CRPF and other forces in Kashmir on a daily basis is a clear indication that India has weakened its grip on Kashmir, which is why it is interpreting the presence of more than 1.5 million troops as its success,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL) leaders, Mohammad Hamza and Mohd Akbar while addressing condolence meetings in Srinagar and Sopore also hailed PM Imran Khan for highlighting the Kashmir dispute at the annual session of the UN General Assembly. They said that Jammu and Kashmir is an Internationally-accepted dispute and urged India to give up its adamant stance and find a peaceful and long-lasting solution to the issue.

Jammu and Kashmir Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi Chairman, Abdul Samad Inqalabi in a statement while praising Imran Khan’s speech urged the United National to impress upon India to stop bloodshed in Kashmir and pave the way for settlement of the dispute on permanent basis.

UNHRC urged to set up team to probe rights violations in IIOJK

Islamabad, September 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Chairman of Kashmir Institute of International Relations, Altaf Hussain Wani has urged the UN Human Rights Council to redouble its efforts to establish a commission of inquiry in line with the OHCHR recommendations to investigate human rights violations in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Taking part in the debate held under Item-4 during the 48TH Session of Human Rights Council Geneva Mr. Wani while speaking on behalf of the World Muslim Congress briefed the world audience about the worsening political and human rights situation in the held territory. He regrettably noted that the bloodshed and violence in the region continued unabated despite the fact that world human rights watchdogs raised their concern over the situation in the region.

“Almost all the credible outlets of international media and human rights organizations United Nations Special Procedures have been reporting on the reprisals- including killings, torture, intimidation and judicial harassment against activists and journalists, and other mass human rights violation in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir”, he said.

Regarding the Indian government’s wilful denial not to adhere to international obligations the KIIR chief said, “India’s institutional complicity and cover-ups is an open secret now but New Delhi is still uninclined to refrain from hiding its crimes”.

He said that on one hand, the Delhi-based jingoistic media channels were being facilitated for distorting facts and spreading lies about Kashmir while on the other the voices of Kashmiri are muzzled for not toeing the pro-India line.

About abuse of draconian laws aimed at silencing the independent voices in Kashmir, he said, “On September 8 the police in Jammu and Kashmir raided the homes of four Kashmiri journalists – Hilal Mir, Shah Abbas, Showkat Motta, and Azhar Qadri – and confiscated their phones and laptops and passports”.

These raids he said were part of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government’s escalating crackdown on freedom of expression, association, and peaceful assembly since coming to power in 2014.

The Indian authorities, he said, have brought politically motivated criminal cases, including under broadly worded terrorism and sedition laws, against political leaders of Kashmir Including Shabir Ahmed Shah, M. Yasin Malik, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Massrat Alam Butt Asyia Indrabi, and others languishing in Indian Jails without trial.

He said that it was high time that the council should step up its efforts to establish a commission of inquiry in line with the recommendations of OHCHR to investigate past and ongoing human rights violations in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
