PM underlines resolve to fully facilitate Turkish companies in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has underscored the importance of increasing bilateral trade volume to 5 billion dollars with Turkey over the next three years.

Talking to Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, who called on him in Ankara on Wednesday, he also underlined the resolve to fully facilitate Turkish companies in Pakistan. The Prime Minister invited them to invest in diverse sectors including food processing, agriculture, automotives, IT, hydel, solar and wind energy.

Shehbaz Sharif deeply lauded the personal contribution of the Turkish Foreign Minister in advancing bilateral relations and for playing an important role in strengthening existing institutional mechanisms of cooperation between the two countries.

He thanked the Turkish Foreign Minister for his country’s principled policy on Jammu and Kashmir. On Afghanistan, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of addressing the dire humanitarian situation, release of Afghan assets to help stabilize the economy, and continued efforts for sustainable peace and stability in the country.

Kaira vows to expose Indian aggression, cruelties in IIOJK at all Int’l fora

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Qamar Zaman Kaira has reiterated government’s resolve to expose Indian aggression and cruelties in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) at all international fora.

Inaugurating the All Parties Consultative Conference on Kashmir issue titled “The Way Forward” here in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said the entire Pakistani nation is standing by their Kashmiri brethren in their just struggle for getting liberation from Indian clutches.

Qamar Zaman Kaira also paid rich tribute to the spirit of Kashmiri leadership of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir for its continuing struggle for achieving their inalienable right to self-determination.

PTI files petition in SC for long march clearance

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has filed a petition in the Supreme Court pleading it to direct the federal and Punjab governments to allow the party to hold its long march on Islamabad, according to a report on Wednesday.

The petition also beseeched the apex court to stop both the federal and Punjab governments from arresting the PTI activists during their protest march. It also requested the top court to ask both the governments not to place hurdles and obstacles on the marchers’ routes, besides directing them to refrain from using force and subjecting party supporters to torture.

Asad Qaiser files appeal in IHC

Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser Wednesday filed an appeal in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to avoid arrest, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. Asad Qaiser, in his appeal, requested that a list of cases that were registered against him across the country should be provided to him.

He requested the court to stop his arrest until the list of cases was received. He maintained that he had participated in the long march on the call of former prime minister Imran Khan at which the cases were registered against him. He stated that as per the reports, police and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) registered cases against him in different areas.

He requested to provide the details of all the cases and inquiries against him, declaring that all the cases registered against him were illegal. He also pleaded with the court to stop the FIA and police from arresting him. The interior secretary, Islamabad IG Police, Punjab IG Police, Sindh IG Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IG Police and the FIA director general were made respondents in the petition.

President summons NA on Monday

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has summoned the next session of the National Assembly here at the Parliament House on Monday at 4:00 pm.

The session has been summoned under Article 54 (1) of the Constitution. The Annual Budget for the financial year 2022-23 is scheduled for presentation in the National Assembly on 10th of June 2022.

Commissioner Bannu directs immediate resolution of Township residents’ problems

BANNU: Commissioner Bannu Division Arshad Khan on Wednesday paid a detailed visit to Bannu Township Bannu managed by Bannu Development Authority and got acquainted with the problems of Township residents.

Project Director Bannu Development Authority Shabbir Khan, other concerned officials and a large number of township residents were present on the occasion. The Commissioner said that the provincial government has sanctioned a huge amount of Rs35 crore for Bannu Development Authority which will make Bannu Township a modern and beautiful township.

He said necessary action is being taken to involve technical staff of Communication and Works Department in the process. Similarly, construction work on plots allotted for schools and hospitals will also be started soon, he said adding that steps will also be taken for installation of separate WAPDA feeder for Bannu township and completion of boundary wall.

He said in order to achieve this goal, he would personally hold special meetings with the secretaries of the Local Government and Education Departments so that the big and long standing projects of Bannu Township could be completed. On this occasion, in a meeting with a large number of residents of Bannu Development Authority Township, he listened to their basic problems and issued orders on the spot to solve the solvable problems.

Commissioner Bannu Division also directed Project Director Bannu Development Authority Shabbir Khan to take immediate steps to resolve the problems of the residents of Bannu Development Authority Township as per his powers and ensure the provision of facilities. The Commissioner further directed that the employees of Bannu Development Authority should ensure their attendance and improve the sanitation situation in the town.

PM urges to tap huge potential, opportunities to promote Pakistan, Turkey trade ties

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has stressed the need to tap the huge potential and opportunities to promote trade relation between Pakistan and Turkey.

Addressing the Turkey-Pakistan Business Council in Ankara on Wednesday, he said both the countries have also immense opportunities of cooperation in Textile industry and a joint strategy in this regard will further boost the industry.

The Prime Minister invited Turkish business community to invest in Pakistan and the government will provide all possible facilities in this regard. He said both the countries have supported each other in critical times especially during earthquake, flood and other natural disasters.

He said through a joint adventure, the two countries can rapidly move to the path of development and prosperity. Shehbaz Sharif said the government is taking effective steps to meet the current economic challenges being face by Pakistan. He also invited Turkish investors to invest in Pakistan in the fields of hydro, solar and wind power projects. He lauded the Turkish investment in solar parks projects in Pakistan as well.

Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan will be capable to produce 40,000 megawatt hydroelectricity after construction of dams in the country. He said Pakistan wants to take the benefits from Turkish capabilities in diverse sectors as it has immense experience in construction of dams, production of cheaper electricity and manufacturing vehicles. The Prime Minister said that Turkish investments in the country will also lead to profit to their business community besides development of Pakistan.

Govt decides to modernize Islamabad Safe City on pattern of Lahore

ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to modernize Islamabad Safe City on the pattern of Lahore to ensure foolproof security of the federal capital.

A decision to this respect was taken at a meeting chaired by Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah here in Islamabad on Wednesday. The meeting also decided to ensure hundred percent coverage of cameras to curb street crimes and ensure law and order in Islamabad.

The meeting approved provision of additional financial, technical resources and support to Islamabad Police and Frontier Constabulary for their operational capacity building. It was consented to bring salaries and allowances of Islamabad Police at par with the Punjab Police.

It approved immediate payment of the outstanding amount of one billion rupees martyrs’ package for the Islamabad police and bringing salaries, allowances of Frontier Constabulary and martyrs’ package at par with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police. Speaking on the occasion, Rana Sanaullah said it has been decided to establish a coordination mechanism between the police and the administration of twin cities as country cannot be left on the mercy of miscreants and gangs.
