HR violations show massive increase in IIOJK since Aug 5, 2019

Islamabad, August 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):Human rights violations have shown a massive increase in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) since August 5, 2019 when the Modi-led fascist Indian government repealed Kashmir’s special status and imposed military siege in the territory.

As many as 663 innocent Kashmiris fell to Indian bullets, 17993 people were arrested, 2278 injured, 1093 houses destroyed and 125 women were molested by Indian troops since Aug 5, 2019 in IIOJK, said a report released by the KMS, today.

It said systematic human rights violations are being continuously committed with impunity by Indian troops in the occupied territory, adding that several global rights groups have time and again raised alarm about the worsening rights situation.

The report said the Modi regime’s August 5, 2019 actions and thereafter are gross violation of the United Nations Security Council resolutions. India has unleashed a reign of terror against IIOJK’s Muslim population, it lamented.

It deplored that the Kashmiri youth were being killed in fake encounters and in so-called cordon and search operations (CASOs) by Indian troops, adding that 96,095 Kashmiris had been killed since January 1989 to July 2021 in IIOJK.

The report said India claims to be the world’s largest democracy but is shamelessly violating every human rights principle in IIOJK and is putting the whole peace of South Asia at stake.

The world community and international human rights organizations need to take note of the rising rights violations in the territory and settle the lingering dispute so that permanent peace could be established in the region.

Mobile internet services suspended for 5 days in Manipur amid protests

Imphal, August 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):Mobile Internet services have been suspended for five days across Indian disturbed state Manipur.

The order issued by Special Secretary (Home) H Gyan Prakash claimed that some anti-social elements were using social media to transmit hate speeches, inciting the passions of the public.

The decision was taken after a vehicle was set ablaze by some people, which led to communal tension at Phougakchao Ikhang on Saturday evening, the official order said.

The district magistrate of Bishnupur has also imposed prohibitory orders for a period of two months across the valley district, beginning Saturday evening.

Tension has been brewing in the state after All Tribal Student Union Manipur (ATSUM) imposed an indefinite “economic blockade” along the highways passing through the hill districts on Friday morning, cutting off supplies to the valley region.

The students’ body had been demanding that the Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council (Amendment) Bill 2021 be tabled in the assembly.

The indefinite blockade prompted the valley-based organisation Meitei Leepun to lock the Imphal office of ATSUM.

The ATSUM was demanding the tabling of the Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council (Amendment) Bill 2021 in the monsoon session of the assembly for greater financial and administrative autonomy of the hill region to ensure development at par with the valley areas of the state.

Indian police arrest mourners after they try to take out processions in Srinagar

Srinagar, August 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):Experts who have a close watch on the day-to-day developments in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have warned New Delhi of not playing with fire by holding the G-20 summit in the occupied territory in 2023 in violation of international agreements and the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.

They were commenting on the media reports about instructions by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs to the local authorities to make the necessary arrangements for holding the event in Ladakh area of IIOJK.

The experts warned that the move had already been opposed by Pakistan and China saying that it will be an open violation of and disregard for the United Nations international resolutions on the disputed nature of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

This event will be held for the first time since August 2019 when IIOJK lost its special status after New Delhi unilaterally abrogated Articles 370 and 35-A from its constitution. The August 2019 actions were rejected by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), either.

The fact is, Jammu and Kashmir had never been a part of India, and will never be. It is an internationally recognized disputed territory that has been under forcible and illegal occupation of India since 1947, the experts added.

The dispute remains on the agenda of the United Nations Security Council for nearly 75 years. The relevant UNSC resolutions pledge to the Kashmiris their inalienable right to self-determination, to be exercised through a free and impartial plebiscite under the auspices of the United Nations

Now flouting the international commitments, the experts said, India will not succeed in misleading the global community by organizing the international summits like G-20 in IIOJK.

In the interest of justice as well as durable peace and security in South Asia, they advised India to honour its commitment to the Kashmiris and to the world community by faithfully implementing the UNSC resolutions on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

Nupur Sharma row: Mob attacks man in Maharashtra over social media post

Mumbai, August 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):A man was attacked with sharp weapons by a mob in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district accusing him of supporting suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma on social media, leaving him seriously injured

A senior police officer said that it was premature to say anything about the motive behind the attack as the investigation is at the preliminary stage.

The man, identified as Pratik alias Sunny Rajendra Pawar, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital for injuries to his head and other parts of the body, a police official said.

Rajendra Pawar was attacked by at least 14 people on Thursday evening in front of a medical shop at Akkabai Chowk in Karjat town.

The incident occurred when Pawar and Amit Mane, the complainant in the case, were going to attend an event on his two-wheeler and waiting for a friend near the medical shop, the official said.

While they were waiting for a friend, some men approached them on two-wheelers. They were carrying a sword, sickle, and hockey sticks, as per the First Information Report (FIR).

One of them shouted at Pawar saying he had written a post on social media in support of Nupur Sharma and also put the status on Instagram after Kanhaiya Lal, and attacked him, Mane stated in his complaint filed on Friday.

Kanhaiya Lal was allegedly murdered by two men in June in Udaipur for sharing a social media post in support of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, whose comments on Prophet Mohammad had caused a huge row. After Pawar was left injured, Mane called up his two friends and they rushed Pawar to a state-run hospital.

A senior police officer said it is premature to link the attack to social media posts, if any, of Pawar. He said Pawar has a criminal background with two cases pending against him. He said the victim had some old enmity with members of a group, which may have led to the attack.

Indian police claim arresting one youth in Srinagar

Srinagar, August 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):Indian Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested an over ground worker of a mujahid organization at Lawaypora area of Srinagar district. Police on its official twitter handle wrote that on specific information, a militant named Arshad Ahmad Butt was arrested by a joint team of Srinagar police and Indian army at Lawaypura.

A case registered at Shalteng Police station. It is worth mentioning here that over the past few years, Indian police has become habitual of branding innocent Kashmiri as supporters of militant organizations to justify their arrest.

Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Saturday a Muslim youth from Batla House in New Delhi. The agency said that Mohsin Ahmed, a permanent resident of Patna is an active member of the so-called Islamic State (IS). Ahmed was arrested after searches conducted at his premises and elsewhere Saturday in a case pertaining to “online and on-ground activities of the ISIS” registered by the NIA on June 25, officials said.
