Murad visits Kashmore

Kashmore: Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah visited the flood and rain-affected areas here on Wednesday. He was received by Sohrab Sarki, Gul Mohammad Jakarani, Altaf Ahmed Khoso and others on his arrival.

Kandhkot-Kashmore Deputy Commissioner Manwar Ali Mithani while briefing him said that the district has 3 talukas, one municipal committee, 6 town committees and 41 UCs.

There are 148 villages in this district, of which 110 are in Pucca and 38 are in Kacha. From July 1 to August 26, 1,353 mm of rain fell. Due to heavy rains, an area of 159,731 acres of the district was affected. 119,698 houses collapsed due to rain.

As many as 20,084 cattle died along with 31 people and 709 were injured due to the rain. 27 relief camps were established where 6961 victims were accommodated. Cooked food, milk, ration bags, tarpaulin, mosquito nets, jerry cans, bed sheets and other equipment were provided in the camps. The water has been drained from the low-lying areas. After the water receded, the victims returned to their homes.

The rest will return to their villages soon. Along with the Kashmore district, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that Jacobabad was affected by floods and rains. And will also visit Shikarpur. H.O.NO.263/2022.

Briefing held for Belgian, INGOs, and Humanitarian Relief Organizations about floods in Pakistan

Islamabad: The Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels has arranged a briefing for the Belgian and International Humanitarian Relief Organizations and INGOs.

The purpose of the briefing was to apprise the International humanitarian relief Organizations of the situation resulting from floods across the country and to coordinate the provision of relief assistance from Belgium for the flood-affected people.

Ambassador of Pakistan to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union Dr Asad Majeed Khan briefed the participants about the unprecedented devastation caused by the climate-induced disaster in Pakistan which has badly affected over 33 million people.

The Ambassador indicated that more than 1569 people including 555 children had lost their lives and 12,860 people got injured including 4000 children, due to the floods.

ICAO assures Pakistan to help in strengthening civil aviation sector at national level

Islamabad: The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has assured Pakistan to help in strengthening civil aviation sector at national level and enhancing its presence at the international level.

The assurance was given by Secretary General of International Civil Aviation Organization Juan Carlos Salazar in Montreal during a meeting with Pakistan High Commissioner to Canada Zaheer Aslam Janjua.

On the occasion, Pakistan’s High Commissioner, presented his credentials as Pakistan’s Representative to the Secretary General International Civil Aviation Organization.

The High Commissioner said Pakistan has an expanding aviation sector and the announcement of two new airlines in the country last year reflects the strength of the sector as well as the role of air travel in boosting tourism potential of the country.

Appreciating the role of Pakistan, the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Secretary General assured his full support to strengthen civil aviation sector of Pakistan.

PM thanks UN Chief, Turkish President for strong advocacy of plight of flood victims

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has thanked UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres for his strong advocacy of the plight of flood victims of Pakistan and drawing world’s attention to the most urgent actionable issue of climate change.

In a tweet, Shehbaz Sharif said the international community should move away from talking about climate to acting together.

In another tweet, he said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for highlighting the need for the continued international assistance to help Pakistan deal with the disastrous floods.

Shehbaz Sharif also commended Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his consistent support for rights of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Dengue cases continue to pile up in Karachi

Karachi: Dengue cases have gone out of control in Karachi as 248 cases have been reported during the last 24 hours while 16 people died suffering from it in a single day, which is a high number, meanwhile, 105 new cases were reported in Islamabad on Wednesday.

It seemed that dengue is proving more dangerous than Covid because the number of cases and deaths are increasing with each passing day.

As per data provided by Sindh Health Department, the deadly virus has claimed 16 lives in a single day taking the toll to 27 in this month.

A total number of 248 cases of dengue has been diagnosed in the city in past 24 hours while the number of people affected by dengue in the city is more than 3,285 and total tall has reached to 5, 492 during this year.

However, residents showed their dismay over authorities for not taking preventive measures to eliminate dengue.

On the other hand, the dengue menace is still looming in Federal Capital as 105 new dengue patients have been brought to the hospital within a day in which 63 cases were reported from rural population whereas 42 in urban population and the total number of dengue patients has gone to 1,561 in this season. Moreover, five patients have lost their live due to dengue in the capital territory so far.

As per health officials, 11 patients were brought to PIMS hospital and 61 patients were brought to Orangi laboratories yesterday.

The cases of dengue are spreading rapidly in Lahore as 100 new dengue cases were reported in a single day, while dengue larvae were detected from 764 different hotspots in the city.

Pakistan reports 52 coronavirus cases, no death in 24 hours

Karachi: Pakistan has reported no death in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of confirmed positive cases has surged to 1,571,988. The nationwide tally of fatalities stands at 30,607 on Wednesday.

According to the latest figures by the National Institute of Health (NIH), at least 52 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 across the country in the past 24 hours.

Pakistan has conducted 12,077 tests in the past 24 hours out of which 52 persons were tested positive for the disease. The COVID Positivity Ratio was recorded at 0.43 percent.

PPP to celebrate Bilawal’s 34th birthday on Wednesday

Quetta: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will celebrate its Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s 34th birthday on Wednesday, September 21.

According to the report, the PPP workers will celebrate the day by organizing different cake-cutting programs across the country.

Pakistan’s youngest Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was born on 21st September 1988 in Karachi.

Bilawal got his early education in Karachi, Islamabad and Dubai. Later for higher education, he goes to the UK and in 2010, he received the degree of BA Hons in media studies from Oxford University.

In 2007, after the death of his mother Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, he was forced to join politics and following her will, appointed as PPP Chairman.

Therefore after completing his studies in 2012, he officially started his practical political life at Karachi public meeting. In 2018, Bilawal was elected as a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from Larkana on his party ticket.

This year, after the abolition of Imran Khan’s government, he was sworn in as the Foreign Minister and became a member of Shahbaz Sharif’s cabinet.
