Consul General of France meeting with Sindh Governor 

Karachi, January 27, 2023 (PPI-OT):Consul General of France met Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tesuri at the Governor House. Promotion of bilateral relations, investment, increase in mutual trade and other issues were discussed in the meeting.

Sindh Governor said that Pakistan-France bilateral relations span many decades, he said that French investment is proving to be important for prosperity, employment and good bilateral relations. Kamran Khan Tesuri said that various sectors of the province are important for investment, adding that France’s help for the rehabilitation of flood victims is commendable.

The Consul General of France said that French companies are working in Pakistan, making French cars manufactured in Karachi, adding that French investors are interested in investing in various sectors.

Children of Dewa Academy arrived at the Governor’s house 

Karachi, January 27, 2023 (PPI-OT):On the invitation of Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tesori, the children of Dewa Academy arrived at the Governor’s House. Governor Sindh had lunch with special children of Dewa Academy, children from Governor Sindh also performed solat in gestures.

Governor Sindh said that the arrival of these children to the Governor House is a matter of honor for me, Kamran Khan Tesuri said that hearing and speech impaired children are an important part of the society, they are not less than normal children in any way, he said. He added that Deva Academy is providing exemplary educational services for hearing and speech impaired children.

CDWP approves seven development projects worth Rs22.16b 

Islamabad, January 27, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Central Development Working Party has approved seven development projects worth 22.16 billion rupees during its meeting with its Chairman Minister for Planning Professor Ahsan Iqbal in Islamabad.

The forum approved Balochistan Urgent Response for Food Security Project at the cost of Rs 1,100.000 million, Maintenance Dredging of Navigation Channel of Gwadar Port at the cost of Rs 4,669.762million, Social Sector Accelerator SSA for Health, Nutrition, Education, Youth and Gender, National Priority Initiatives (2nd 9revised) at the cost of Rs 4,825.05million, Provision of Academic and Research Facilities and Girls Hostel at Quaid-e-Azam University at the cost of Rs 3,860.355million, Establishment of Partnership between Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Pakistan to address grand challenges in Health Sector at the cost of Rs 220.000million, King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud Hospital at Tarlai, Islamabad, at the cost of Rs 2,499.993million and Sanitary Sewerage System with Treatment Plant in Gilgit city at the cost of Rs 4,988.704million.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary Planning Ministry, Chief Economist, Members Planning Commission and representatives from the various ministries and divisions. The forum considered seven projects related to the Ministry of Planning Development and Special Initiatives, Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination and HEC.

PTI Chief telling lies, misguiding people: Marriyum 

Islamabad, January 27, 2023 (PPI-OT):Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb says all lies of foreign agent have been badly exposed. Reacting to PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s statement, she said the foreign agent is himself hiding in home and inciting people to protest on streets.

She said the foreign agent knows quite well that if he comes out of the refuge of his house, his freedom to tell lies will be destroyed. Marriyum Aurangzeb said it is time to send the killer of economy and criminal of people to jail.

President calls for integrating emerging technologies into higher education 

Islamabad, January 27, 2023 (PPI-OT):President Dr Arif Alvi has urged universities and higher education institutions to establish meaningful and practical links with well-known international universities. Chairing the board meeting of Lahore University of Management Sciences in Lahore on Friday, he stressed the need to learn from each other’s best practices, experiences, innovations and creativity.

He said in order to transform Pakistan into a modern and developed country, there is a need to take prompt decisions and ensure timely implementation The President said universities should incorporate new and emerging technologies into the curriculum, and produce skilled quality graduates who are able to meet the challenges of the modern world.

High Commissioner for Pakistan to Bangladesh, Mr. Imran Ahmed Siddiqui opens the first Pakistan – Bangladesh Friendship Badminton tournament in Dhaka 

Islamabad, January 27, 2023 (PPI-OT):High Commissioner for Pakistan to Bangladesh, Mr. Imran Ahmed Siddiqui today opened the first Pakistan – Bangladesh Friendship Badminton tournament by unveiling the Tournament’s Trophy here in Dhaka, says a press release received here today from Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The tournament being played at Sports Complex in Purbachal, Dhaka is being played between twelve badminton teams from various embassies and UN bodies based in Dhaka. Commenting on the objective of the event, the High Commissioner said that the tournament was part of series of events and activities the High Commission has been arranging to celebrate Pakistan Day.

Interacting with players, the High Commissioner expressed hope that the sporting event will help enhance goodwill and connectivity among the diplomatic missions besides fostering bonds of friendship between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Pakistan High Commission will continue to organise such tournaments with increased participation of all, he said. Mr. Siddiqui appreciated the active participation of diplomatic missions and other organisations and wished good luck to the participating teams and players.

Finance Minister vows to promote Islamic finance system in Pakistan 

Islamabad, January 27, 2023 (PPI-OT):Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has vowed to promote Islamic finance and eliminate interest based system in Pakistan in true spirit within five years. He was chairing the First Steering Committee meeting in Islamabad today on implementation of Federal Shariat Court’s judgment on Riba.

The Finance Minister urged upon all the stakeholders to work with commitment, sincerity and understanding to overcome all the hurdles in way of implementation of interest free system as already 21 per cent of banks enjoy Islamic banking system. The Finance Minister emphasized to include professional experts on Islamic laws in the committees and also seek guidance of Ulema and Islamic intellectuals into launching of additional Islamic Sukuk bonds.

Ishaq Dar appreciated Governor State Bank of Pakistan for his sincere efforts in making roadmap for implementation of Islamic financing and interest free system. He also expressed satisfaction on SBP and NBP for withdrawing appeals in the Supreme Court against the judgment of Federal Shariat Court and paving the way for its implementation. Earlier, Governor State Bank informed the meeting that five working groups had been formed to overcome the technical issues, getting recommendations and deciding on way forward for fully implementation of the Islamic financing.
