Police arrest two notorious robbers, recover looted goods, cash

KHAIRPUR: A police team, headed by DSP Gambat, claimed to have arrested two ringleaders of a notorious gang and recovered stolen gold, cash and other valuables worth lakhs of rupees from their possession.

According to a police report, on a tip-off, the police team arrested the two ringleaders of a robbers gang, identified as Sajawal Sheikh and Ejaz Bhatti, and recovered gold, Rs7 lakh cash and other valuables which had been looted from the house of Zulfikar Ali Memon.

The owner of the looted house has hailed and thanked SSP Khairpur and his police team for recovering his looted valuables and cash. In a separate raid, the police also claimed to have recovered 12 stolen motorcycles and handed them over to the real owner. SSP Khairpur has announced the Appreciation Certificates and cash reward for the police teams who recovered looted goods and cash besides arresting the accused.

Suri’s resignation: ECP liable to contempt of court, says Raisani

QUETTA: The resignation of Qasim Khan Suri from the membership of national assembly was contempt of court and Election Commission of Pakistan was also liable to contempt of court by announcing election on the constituency of NA constituency 265.

It was stated by head of Balochistan Peace Movement and former Senator, Nawabzada Mir Haji Lashkari Raisani while addressing a press a press conference at Quetta Press Club here on Thursday. Raisani said that success of Qasim Khan Suri as member National Assembly was challenged before Election Commission of Pakistan and later before the High Court of Balochistan, adding that NADRA got the votes certified on the directives of High Court of Balochistan, pointing out that 2500 votes, which were not in the record of Election Commission of Pakistan, were cast in two different polling stations.

He said that after disqualification from the High Court, stay was granted to Qasim Khan Suri by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, adding that stay of the Supreme Court was still intact on 265 constituency. He said that the resignation of Qasim Khan Suri from the membership of national assembly was contempt of court and Election Commission of Pakistan was also liable to contempt of court by announcing election on the constituency of NA constituency 265.

Naval chief visits forward posts in coastal areas

KARACHI: Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi visited forward posts in coastal areas and inaugurated a 25-bed hospital at Turbat. The state of the art hospital is aimed to provide quality medical facilities to local populace along with troops.

According to PN information on Thursday, upon arrival at Turbat, Naval Chief was received by Commander Pakistan Fleet Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami. The Chief of the Naval Staff was given detailed briefing on operational preparedness of units and deployed troops. Naval Chief interacted with the troops and expressed full satisfaction on operational preparedness and combat readiness.

He appreciated the high morale of troops in ensuring impregnable defence of the country in the prevailing challenging environment. The Naval Chief also reiterated Pakistan Navy’s resolve to safeguard the maritime frontiers of the country besides ensuring socio-economic uplift of coastal community as foremost initiatives.

Acting FPSC chairman reviews exam arrangements in Larkana CSS Center

LARKANA: Acting Chairman, Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), Major General (Rtd) Syed Abid Hasan visited Thursday Sindh University, Larkana Campus, to review arrangements for ongoing Central Superior Services (CSS) annual written examination and expressed confidence in the arrangements made by the administration in the auditorium hall.

On this occasion, Interim SPSC Chairman Major General (Rtd) Syed Abid Hasan, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Azhar Ali Shah and Assistant Commissioner Shahida Jamro visited the examination hall and reviewed the arrangements and praised the spirit of the exam candidates.

Acting Chairman Major General (Rtd) Syed Abid Hasan said that the Larkana CSS exam is being conducted in a smooth way and he has come here to review arrangements made for the candidates and meet the children and get information about the type of paper and to know what difficulties they are facing. He said that I am happy that good arrangements have been made in the Sindh University campus, the environment here is the best.

He said that education is a big sector, which needs to be given a lot of attention and reforms are needed in this vital sector. He also talked about the morale of the students and said that they were giving different opinions adding it all depends on the preparation of the examinee and what kind of preparation he/she has done.

PTI moves LHC against acceptance of 43 MNAs’ resignations

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Thursday moved the Lahore High Court against the acceptance of 43 MNAs’ resignations by Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.

Riaz Fatyana, Nasarullah Khan, Tahir Sadiq along with 43 PTI leaders challenged the acceptance of their resignations as MNAs by Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf. The Election Commission of Pakistan, speaker NA and others have been made respondents in the case. The PTI leaders in their plea said they took back their resignations before acceptance and after withdrawal, speaker NA cannot accept the resignations.

The NA speaker has been accused of accepting resignations to ‘politically victimize’ the opponents, the PTI leaders said in their plea. The LHC has been pleaded to nullify the decision of speaker Raja Pervaiz Asharaf and the order of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Earlier, Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf accepted 43 resignations of the PTI MNAs and forwarded them to the ECP for approval. The speaker sent resignations of Lal Chand, Riaz Fatyana, Muhammad Yaqoob Sheikh, Sardar Talib, Ghazala Saifi, Zulfiqar Ali Khan, Nafeesa Khattak, Niaz Ahmed, Sahibzada Mehboob and Munazza Hassan and others. Ashraf accepted the resignations of 70 PTI members last week in two phases.

Court grants police two-day physical remand of AML chief Sheikh Rashid

ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad on Thursday granted police two-day physical remand of former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed in a case registered against him for levelling allegations against the former President and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari.

Producing Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, who is also the chief of his own faction of Awami Muslim League (AML) and ally of PTI, before the Judicial Magistrate Umar Shabbir, the police sought eight-day physical remand of the accused, which the court rejected and granted two-day physical remand.

The court directed police to produce Sheikh Rashid on next hearing. Sheikh Rashid was arrested on Wednesday night on the complaint of Raja Inayat-ur-Rehman, the vice president of PPP Rawalpindi Division. In his complaint, Raja Inayat-ur-Rehman stated that the AML chief, in a television interview on Jan 27, alleged that Asif Zardari got the assistance of some terrorists to plan Imran Khan’s murder.

Teenage girl allegedly raped near Larkana

LARKANA: Two suspects allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl, Shahnila, a daughter of Muhammad Moosa Tatri near Mohenjo Daro, police said Thursday.

According to a report, two suspects allegedly sexually assaulted the teenage girl, Shahnila, daughter of Muhammad Moosa Tatri, in Tatri village near Mohenjo Daro. In this regard, a report has been filed against Zubair Tatri and Ghulam Muhammad Tatri who molested the girl at Veehar police station. The police have arrested one of the accused, Ahmed Nawaz Tatri, the father of Ghulam Muhammad Tatri.

Shahnila Tatri, the alleged rape victim, told the media that two suspects, Zubair Tatri and Ghulam Muhammad Tatri, entered the house and abducted her at gunpoint. She said that they took her to an empty place and sexually assaulted her throughout the night. She said that there were other people involved in helping the accused whom she did not know. She said that the accused had destroyed her life. She demanded justice from the authorities.

Meanwhile, the girl’s father, Muhammad Musa Tatri, told the media that the accused had ruined her daughter’s life. We have lodged a complaint at the police station, but the police did not arrest the accused. He said that there was a threat to their lives. He demanded arrest of the accused.

Meanwhile, the Veehar police said that they had filed a case against the two accused who molested the girl. The father of one of the accused had been arrested, while raids were being conducted to arrest the real accused.
