226 healthcare professionals lose lives in fight against COVID-19

KARACHI: As many as 226 healthcare professionals have lost their lives due to coronavirus across Pakistan so far out of which 195 were doctors and 31 other medical staff.

 

According to the statistics shared by Pakistan Medical Association (PMA-Centre) with PPI news agency, COVID-19 has claimed lives of 73 doctors in Punjab, 63 in Sindh, 49 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, six in Balochistan, three in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and one in Gilgit-Baltistan, respectively.

 

In Sindh, a total of 69 healthcare workers died due to COVID-19 in Sindh province so far out of which 63 were doctors and six others were medical staff. The statistics said that 12 staff nurses, nine paramedical staff, three dispensers, one pharmacist and five other medical support staff died of COVID-19 so far in the country. A medical student of Khyber Girls Medical College (KGMC), Peshawar also lost her life due to COVID-19.
