According to the annual report issued by the Karachi Police on Wednesday, incidents of killings during robbery resistance in the city decreased by 26 percent in 2025. The report also detailed a 24 percent decrease in citizens being injured during similar criminal incidents.
According to official statistics, a significant decrease was also seen in street crime, with a 12 percent decrease in mobile phone snatching incidents. A reduction was also seen in vehicle-related crimes, with a 19 percent decrease in car snatching incidents and an 8 percent decrease in car theft throughout the year.
In a statement issued from the office of Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi, Javed Alam Odho, the improved security situation was attributed to “strong and effective operations” conducted during 2025. The purpose of these measures was to establish peace and order by combating both street crime and organized crime.
During this period, law enforcement agencies registered hundreds of cases, resulting in the arrest of a large number of individuals allegedly involved in serious crimes and extortion. The arrests also include proclaimed offenders and absconders, the report stated, adding that dangerous criminals were brought to justice.
The report concluded by stating that a large quantity of drugs and illegal weapons were also recovered as a result of police operations throughout the year.
