In a tragic fire incident, three young siblings were killed and one girl was severely injured when their temporary shelters were engulfed in flames. The family had recently migrated from Tharparkar in search of work.
According to police officials, the deceased on Wednesday were identified as 5-year-old Kanwal Das, 4-year-old Priya, and a young boy named Chuni Lal. The fire completely destroyed the three huts of the laborer family.
A fourth unidentified girl was also severely injured in the incident and is currently fighting for her life in the hospital. According to medical staff, her condition is extremely critical, and her body is up to 80% burned.
The victims belonged to the Meghwar community, who had come to Qazi Ahmed from the drought-stricken region of Tharparkar a month ago. They had come to the area in search of employment during the wheat harvesting season.
The tragedy occurred while the elders of the family were working in the fields. According to reports, the children were playing when a spark from an unknown source set their makeshift homes on fire, leading to the fatal incident. The source of the spark is under investigation.
